Missing Your Presence...

Our home isn't the same without you. Kadie and Chevy don't even hardly bark anymore. They have lost their motivation. I am heartbroken for them, especially Kadie because it is a fight just to get Kadie to eat every day now. I am trying so hard to be strong and carry on, but it is so hard because I miss you so much too. Your presence was always so intense. I knew if anybody got in this house and messed with me that you would bust through a window if you had to and get them. Even if I was outside and so much as a bug swarmed around me, I knew you were coming to get it. You never let anything mess with me and made it known to me every single day how much love and devotion you had for me. You were the glue in this pitbull family. It is funny because your intensity was what people feared about you, and they hated to see you coming into the vet's office because you were just so intense and didn't want to be messed with, but it is what I absolutely loved about you. You always had so much understanding and reasoning and compassion. My heart is broken missing you so much and this home just feels so empty now. Kadie and Chevy don't know how to act without you and poor Kadie misses you so bad. You were a one of a kind. I love you and will miss you every day until we are all together again as a family and whole once again and never have to say goodbye again. Love you always, forever

My thoughts were to bury Choppa's ashes, but upon getting them today I have decided to keep them right by me where he would want to be. OMG I miss him SO much! I am still going to have a little service for him this evening so that I can formally say words from the bible over him. I am holding onto the hope of seeing him again one day.

In Honor of Choppa

In honor of Choppa, being he was my first pitbull and opened my heart up to SO much, I wanted to do something in his memory. Choppa always wanted to keep me safe so I decided to get the electric company to put up a security light. Also, I did research online and put together bible verses to say for Choppa, as I get his ashes today.

Psalm 24:1 All animals belong to God

Isaiah 11:6 The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.

Psalm 145:9-10, 13, 15-21 God loves all His creation and has made plans for all His children and the lesser creatures to enjoy His eternal Kingdom.

Revelation 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

John 16:22 So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.

Philippians 1:3 I thank my God in all my remembrance of you

I have been fortunate enough to have Choppa in my life for 12 years. In these 12 years he has been my therapist, my dad, my brother, my best friend, my son, my protector... my everything. My heart is so broken to have lost him today to mega esophagus, but I will rejoice when we see each other again one day. God I miss you Choppa and love you beyond what I can express in words.

Choppa's Time

Choppa made it to be 12 years old the other day. Unfortunately he hasn't been doing good at all, constantly throwing up. The vet gave me the bad news yesterday that he has mega esophagus bad. He said he is injecting him with medicine to see if it will help mobility in the esophagus, but that he isn't hopeful. He basically told me that Friday we might have to put him down. Choppa used to be a robust 75-80 lbs and now he has dwindled down to barely holding onto 50 lbs. Please pray for him. Also, selfishly I ask for prayer for myself because I am having such a hard time. I knew that his day would come one day and that I would have to let go, but it isn't easy at all. Please pray for us.

I am posting my son CJ's link. Please give support and uplift for him and his family. It is very unfortunate for everybody involved what happened, and while we do not understand, we still love CJ to death and always will.

What is sad is that Choppa's son CJ has passed on, and I would love if everybody can please visit his page and leave him some supporting comments.

Friday 10/19/12 Vet Checkup

We got an overall good report from the vet about Choppa this past Friday evening!!!! The vet said he was expecting Choppa to look better, but not as good as he does & that he was impressed!!! His left ear is completely clear of infection. The right ear, which was his worst, still has some infection in it so we are going to continue to treat it by washing & medicine for the next 10 days & then bring Choppa back & if it isn't all cleared up by then, then he will be on antibiotics again. He did place him back on steroids & we are going to do a lowering dose to see if we can have Choppa feeling good on 5 mg and the vet said if so then we may just leave him on that permanently to help with the residual nerve damage effects. Choppa's front left leg seems to flare up & he will do a little hobble with it and it is like he has to think about putting that paw to the ground & if he doesn't walk slow he forgets & will fall sometimes. Also, he can chew & eat on his own, but it takes him a long while because he doesn't grab that well. He said his front left leg and how he struggles to grab food may be permanent damage from the nerves that he will have to deal with from now on, but said that time will tell & that sometimes there is nerve recovery, but nerve recovery is age dependent so it varies, but we will see. All in all though, the vet said that Choppa looks so good to him now & is real pleased!

After 3 agonizing weeks of struggling with Choppa today was the 1st day he ate some by himself! He can't open his mouth up to chew things like a bone or a toy BUT I am so very encouraged! I put his kibbles in his bowl, put water for the kibbles to soak up & after it sets up it is stiff & so when he puts his snout in to get his food he is able to grab it easier because it isn't moving around. We also put Pedialyte in there to be sure he was able to drink & he lapped up all of the juice! Today is one of the best days ever for me!!! Here Choppa was 3 weeks ago knocking on heaven's door, looked absolutely horrible with one vet saying if he wasn't better in 3 days to think about putting him down THEN we see the local vet here & he gives us steroid, antibiotic & ear wash and medicine & now after a week of this I am getting my boy back!!!!! Love you so much Choppa & mom and dad wasn't going to give up on you baby!!!

Hopeful news today for you my baby boy!!!!!!

Okay so NEVER take your animals to Animal Medical Center in Hattiesburg. I paid $525 over the weekend to take Choppa there for the 24 hour monitoring, fluid, bloodwork and SUPPOSEDLY a complete physical exam under heavy sedation BUT this vet here where I live said that his ears are severely infected real deep & prostate is enlarged from infection & all that can present with stroke-like symptoms. Soooo steroid, antibiotics & ear wash & medicine and said he is hopeful for Choppa & said we should see a big improvement with him regaining to eat & drink within 4 days! Please continue praying for a full and complete recovery for Choppa!!!
