Piloux, quit complaining. Yes it is a little smoky outside, but what do you care? You sleep in the shade all day anyway. Just think of me, I run around the yard, chasing squirrels, scaring the mail carriers and am constantly on guard. I am the one who needs fresh, clean air.

Why are you under the bed anyway? They aren't going to make you go back outside. Besides, they can see you. Your back legs are sticking out from under the covers. Do you have food under there? What? Cheese paper from an old cheeseburger. Can I have a piece? Don't go under further, I'm too big to fit. Oh, here comes mom, I'm going to beg for a treat from her.

Oh what a great day. I want to do that again. My mom takes me running around the Rose Bowl all the time. But today was special. There were balloons and lots of other dogs. And when we got out of the car, we didn't get started right away. We had to stand with a lot of other dogs and their families. Then we heard a loud horn, which scared me, but I look up at my mom and she said lets go. And we ran around the Rose Bowl. We ran around the parking lot and I pooped and my mom cleaned it up. Then we went around the corner and somebody gave me some water.A And then we went around another corner and I saw a squirrel. And then I saw some of my family standing along the race track. It was my dad and human sister, my cousin Katie and her humans and best of all my little sister, and best friend Piloux. She was dressed as a jack-o-lantern for Halloween and she was yelling "Allez, allez," (she told me to say that, but it's not true – she doesn't speak french). I wanted to stop and say hello, but my mom made me keep going. We went until we reached the finish line, and then I looked for and found my family. They were so excited to see me. And they hugged me and pet me and gave me more water. And then we went home. Piloux slept most of the day, but I just kept thinking about going back tomorrow. And running some more.

Oh, I do love Piloux, I really do. But I say big deal. Her diary is featured today and she is walking around like she owns the world. Who really cares? Everything she does, I do, only I do it better. Today we went on a walk and she had to keep up with ME! (she didn't get to go in the wading pool like I did though). And then, when she came home, she dug a hole and escaped under the fence. She ran right to the office and my mom saw her, scooped her up, covered her with kisses and then told her she was a good dog for not running out of the yard. But, hey, I didn't even try to escape. I am still right where I am supposed to be. I am really the good dog here. And she is a very naughty one.

Sorry, there's a squirrel. gotta go.

Piloux, you are such a tool

That's all I wanted to say (see title). Piloux is nuts. She jumps all over everyone because she has no discipline whatsoever. People like her, sure. But I prefer a more subtle approach to people. I am quiet and dignified. Besides, I am too big to jump on people -- I'ld end up knocking them down.

Piloux, you spoiled little prima-dona. It isn't raining outside and it’s not even cold. It’s a beautiful day to be outside -- you are just too lazy. There are so many things to bark at too. The mailman went by and mom had a client stop by. She looked down from the balcony and said hi to me. And now I am back in the house and I am going to take a nap.

Piloux escaped, but she's back

I tried to stop her-- I tried to bark and bark so mom would see what she was doing. She got scared of some noises and she started going nuts. She moved 3 flower pots and chewed through 3" of fence and then poof, she squeezed under and was gone. I would've gone too, cause it was noisy, but I was too big. So I barked and barked and mom came out and said shhhhhh. Then the phone rang and she went in. Then she came out again. She took me inside and I could tell she was in a hurry. She wasn't gone too long, but it seemed like it. I started thinking of how sad it would be without my friend, and sister, Piloux. She gets on my nerves and she is a little pest, but she is my very-best friend. But when mom came home, there was Piloux. Boy did she smell great. She had been all over the place and smelled like a nice, long walk through the neighborhood. She had great stories, big adventures. She did all sorts of stuff, or so she said. I did notice that she curled up a little tighter when she went to her bed. And grunted one of those "glad to be home" grunts.

I was in charge

Mom left for 2 days for a weekend away and she left me in charge of everyone. What an honor! I took care of everyone the whole time. Those cats didn't get away with anything -- there was no sleeping on mom's pillow for them. And I made them wait for their dinner until their meowing just got the best of me. Piloux moped around the whole time. She was mad because she didn't get to go away too. But we're going to the vets for what mom calls "a spa weekend" for us. She tells us that because we get a bath at the end. But we like the vet's. The people their play with us and their are other dogs to bark at. And mom knows we are safe. And she knows the house is safe too.

Piloux, smart?

Oh, I don't think so. Don't tell her, but I think I am much smarter than Piloux. Piloux gets into all kinds of trouble, partly cause she gets caught, partly cause she always has a guilty look on her face. Take me, though. I've got those sad, doggy eyes. People see them and pet me and give me treats. And they let me up on the bed and scratch my tummy. I am so much smarter.

A very nice walk

I went on a really fun walk with Piloux and mom. We went to the foothills near our house. We go to the Rose Bowl a lot, but mom thought it would be fun to go through the trails instead of the street. It is much safer to go at the Rose Bowl, but mom knew that I would protect everyone, so we went all together. Piloux was scared when mom talked about the mountain lions and rattlesnakes (I picked up a dead one once and mom screamed so loud I think everyone in the world heard her), but I assured Piloux that I would protect her. I was alert the whole time. I listened to every noise and all I heard were rabbits, squirrels and other dogs. We only went a little way because it was getting hot and Piloux wasn't used to walking so far. But mom talked to us the whole time. We were very good. Mom let me off the leash, but I stayed near them so I could protect them. Piloux was good too. She only collapsed once on the way back when she was tired. Mom gave her some water, let her rest, and then we went home. When we got home, I got to stay outside for awhile, until the gardners came. Then I went in with Piloux and rested until Mom came home for the evening. Then we all rested. I sure love being Piloux's big sister.

Pasadena Wiggle Waggle Walk

Right when I woke up, I knew it was going to be a special day. There was something about what mom did that clued me in. She got her shorts on and then put her running shoes on -- which only can mean two things. Either she is going running by herself, which holds no interest for me, or she is taking Piloux and me on a really good walk. You can't imagine how excited I was when she said "want to go?" When she asks that, there can't be anything better. I don't care where we go, as long as we get to go along. But today, we got to go to the Rose Bowl. Now, we've been there before and we love it. But today there were hundreds, and I mean hundreds of other dogs. And they all had the most beautiful blue bandanas on them. Well, mom must have known how much I liked those blue bandanas cause she gave a check to the man, to make him give her two of them. One for me and one for Piloux. And she put them on us and we got to wear them in a parade around the Rose Bowl. And people waved at us and cheered for us and gave us water and head-scratches. Can any of you dogs imagine anything better than that? After the race, Piloux was tired and I think mom was too. But not me. I was too excited. Then, when mom told us that the parade was to help other rescue dogs, I couldn't help but cry a bit. You know, I was a rescue dog and the best day of my life was when my mom came to the shelter, picke me up and took me to my forever home. And if my being in the parade can help another dog to find a forever home, it makes it all the better. It was such a fun day!!! I can't wait until next year's parade.
