Ouchie back

Pugsly wasnt doing very well last night. Please keep your fingers crossed that he will make a speedy recovery. Last night in the middle of the night Pugsly started crying every now and then. Didnt think much of it at first until he would squeel and cry when I tried picking him up. He had also been sleeping for 7 or more hours straight. We took him to the 24 hour vet at around 2 am and the vet said he had hurt his back. We are guessing it was because of a VERY overweight english bulldog from the dog park that kept climbing his back and practically crushing him. They gave Pugsly an injection and he will be taking baby aspirin. We have to watch and make sure he's using all 4 legs. It is possible for it to get worse, his legs could get numb and he could need a doggie wheelchair to get around. He is still using his legs though and hopefully he will get better soon..

Sick Puggy- respiratiry infection and conjunctivitis

Yesterday, Pugsly coughing and breathing very heavily. I had two vet appointments set up for him today. First, he was supposed to go to his regular doctor and get his shots. Then, since his doctor was out of town for a check up, I had an appointment for him to get checked out afterwards at another vet. So just over an hour ago, I took him to get his shots. Champ got his, then just as it was Pugsly's turn someone who worked at the front desk heard Pugsly coughing and wheezing for air..we told them he had an appointment after his shots to get that checked out. They said it wasn't safe for him to get his shots while he is coughing, and they found a vet at the same office to do a check up for Pugsly just to be safe. Turns out he has an upper respiratory infection and he also has conjunctivitis. But turns out, if they didn't hear him coughing before getting his shots, and if he had gotten them while he is this sick...he would not be here tomorrow.

So Pugsly was not able to get his shots in the condition he is in. Today he costed well over $300 and he has been given 4 types of medication and some prescribed diet food for his weight. Our goal is to get him to lose 10 pounds, and that will help with his respiratory problems as well as the medicine. He also got some bloodwork done and we are awaiting the results. I am so thankful my puggy boy is still here with me...and I am determined to make him well again very soon. I was not ready to lose my baby boy at 3 years old.

Oh boy!! Today June 12, 2008 I am dog of the day! Today has been so exciting so far!! Thank you HQ for choosing me - it must've been my irresistable puppy eyes!

I have entered the Worldwide Fido Contest. Mom worked very hard on me and champ's videos and now they are finished and ready to be watched! I have already entered the contest very late so I don't know if I have much of a chance. :( But I won't give up...I know my dogster pals can help me catch up to the others! :D
