Arrival Story:
The day after I bought my house I went to the Humane Society to find a dog. I had wanted a Rottweiler and there was a litter there that day. All were spoken for but I did ask about the male who had a pending application. Luckily, the man wanting to adopt my dog never returned and I was able to adopt him that day. Two days later, Zeke was deathly ill. I took him to the vet and it turned out at 10 weeks old he had parvo. They took him back and quarantined him for 5 days. He and a sister stayed there to get better. Both of them did make it but later I found that they were the only two that survived.

Bio:
Zeke truly trusts anyone and everyone. It is difficult for him when people cross the street when they see him. He wonders why people give him mean looks and say mean things about him. He doesn't know this but his breed has a little stigma attached. We are working to help change that. His job here on earth is done and he is missed by lots and lots of people. Before he left, I asked that he say hello to all his friends before him.

This morning I was so excited to get outside. I got to pee and then I was ready to go the neighbor's house for the day. But mom kept pulling me back towards the house. I am very confused. She said that I would be fine and I am...I am ready to go. So one of my legs isn't so good and kinda just hangs there..I can still get around and sniff the trees and pee on the trees. But no, we turn around and go back in. Apparently I have to wait until mom says I'm fine. She said that it will be nine more days until I get these staples out. Well, if she didn't put that cone on my head I would have them out a lot quicker!! This confuses me as well. Why have someone take them out when i can do it just fine? Here I am with this cone thing again, all because she doesn't trust me while she is at work. Even if I could remember how to get in trouble I can't because of the cone and she has blocked off most of the house. I can only walk from the living room, to the kitchen and my room. I'm going to go back to sleep now. At least I can do that.

Wow, was I out of it yesterday. When my mom picked me up I walked right up to her on my three good legs. You should have seen the look in her eyes! But when I walked past a mirror I realized what she was staring at...my eight inch incision with 20 staples in it. Not to mention the fact that half my behind and leg was shaved. And by the way, I still get compliments . The vet said that I am a sweet dog, the tech said that I was handsome, then this stranger said that he wanted to get a dog like me, and another lady said that I was a very good looking dog even though I am quite the sight. I have found the when I have visiting hours at the house, I cry and moan a lot and then people talk nice to me and give me treats. That's pretty cool. All I have been doing is laying around the last day and listening to this "Don't lick or I'll have to put the cone on". That pretty much does the trick because the cones freak me out! I have got 11 more days now before the staples come out. That is my milestone right now in my life. Then I guess I will get to go on 10 minute walks, yippee skipee. Mom says that it won't be for 3 months when I can go to the dog park and take my hour stroll around all the trails. That is so depressing to think about! Well, at least I have the computer so I can write and let you all know what's up. mmmm, eeeee, oooooh, poor me. (I'm not sure how to whine on the computer.)

Mom will tell you...

Zeke had his surgery yesterday afternoon. The vet called and said that his ligament was pretty bad as well as the arthritis in his left knee. She performed an intracapsular operation where part of his tissue was cut and surgically attached to form a "new" ligament". The vet was happy with the way the surgery went. He gets to come home today with a lot of pain medication. He will have a lot of time on the computer because he can only go outside on bathroom privileges. Poor thing is going to miss the cold weather he loves so much! I am going to try to not make a big deal about it so he doesn't get more upset. Hopefully, you will hear from Zeke soon.
