Arrival Story:
Piper was walking in the road on the afternoon of January 19th 2006. I was on my way home and as I pulled into the driveway, saw her coming around the corner. There was a delivery truck coming at her and not trying to stop!!! I jumped out of my car and ran to her calling.... she stepped onto the grass just before she would have been struck. She seemed as though she had known me all her life. I yelled as loud as I could for someone to claim their dog up and down the street for an hour but no one came. After walking back to my home (this puppy by my side) I opened the door and she pushed through, jumped on the couch, and fell sound asleep. I started calling EVERYONE I could think of to report a "found" puppy, I gave her a bit of an exam and this is what I discovered...... Piper had a number of deer ticks that had been feeding a while... She had worms.... VERY thin and dehydrated... I removed over 20 thorns from her body... She expressed signs of trauma..... cowarding etc. Pads on her paws were almost raw. Ears had been cut with what looked like jaged scissors with many other punctures through her skin. Tail butchered... scaring she was in heat.... and so much more I'm getting upset so I'll stop now. At this point even if she was claimed, they weren't getting her back if you know what I mean. We fell in love. we weren't looking for a dog but "Sometimes they just find you!"

Bio:
I'm happy to report that Pipers' health is much better now. We have a lot of work ahead of us to get her back to 100% but we are prepaired to do whatever it takes. She is the biggest "mush" and just wants love all the time. Talk about personality!!! side note... we keep pull-up diapers on her during the heat cycle.... you try putting a diaper on a 100lb puppy.
