Arrival Story:
myles was one of nine pups born to a 9 month old dog named lickety... on "dog beach" in santa cruz, california...his mother's guardian...lonny...was a homeless man whose only possessions were his extremely pregnant dog and his beat-up old station wagon...on veteran's day... 2001... the pups were born. ...four days later i was on dog beach holding myles...at the time known as "polar"...that afternoon passed and soon weeks passed with no sign of the old blue station wagon...until one day i was on my way to take my girlfriend to lunch and there was that familiar car i'd grown so affectionate towards...i pulled over and i peeked inside the windows to see four fat little puppies playing in the back of the car with each other...i frantically looked around for lonny...my visual search led me to lickety who led me to lonny...sitting in a drum circle smoking out of a strange looking pipe...i motioned for him and he came forth...at just 4 weeks old he had sold 5 of the puppies up and down the coast of california...he said he was using the money for a new van...and he did indeed have future plans for another litter...such a business man...i panicked and we opened the doors to his wagon...three pups came running for the doors and one little pup just sat back and stared...that was myles...lonny said since myles was the only white one in the litter he was going to cost $500.00...i laughed inside my head and off lonny and i went to the bank...on the way to the bank i did my best negotiating...after all was said and done i bought him a half gallon of cream...which he drank in the passenger seat of my car and offerred me a sip...no thank you i said in my polite voice...and $180.00...i took myles home that day...carried him in a pouch for two months and he's been with me ever since...95 pounds later he's still as sweet as he was the day i took him home** **the end**
