Doggie Dynamics:

Sun Sign:
Quick Bio:

December 19th 1998

Going for walks; swimming in the lake or ocean, looking out our front door, guarding the house!

Spraying his 'wrist' with medicine -- he licks sometimes and makes a sore

Favorite Toy:
Nylabone frisbee

Favorite Food:
He's pretty fond of vegetables

Favorite Walk:
Anywhere! He freaks out w/happiness anytime I pick up a leash

Arrival Story:
Our lab had passed away and I was a wreck; my husband said no more dogs; but I said Bo needed a friend so my husband found Hunter in the paper; his family didn't want him anymore, he was 18 months old and had gotten "too rambunctious" (duh, a lab!). So I think we rescued Hunter, just not from the pound. By the way, Bo could have cared less about Hunter! But I'm so glad we got him.

Hunter comes across very "in charge" -- mostly because of his size (95 lbs.) He barks at everything that moves in front of our house; kids on skateboards, people walking dogs, the garbage truck. I've been saying "Hunter No Bark!" for over 8 years now, don't think it's working! Drives my husband crazy but so what, he's a great guard dog! He's a big softy in reality, aren't most labs? He and Tess, our springer, go at it like you wouldn't believe, they play hard, it's so fun to watch! My favorite thing to do with Hunter is lay next to him, he lays his arm across me and we snuggle.

So since the last time I told you about my arthritis - (it sucks getting old!) my Mom has done so much for me. I take this yummy chocolate/coffee smelling treat called PhyCox everyday, plus I get this stuff called Metacam. My person says it is "liquid gold" and that the only reason she works anymore is to pay for my medicine! So then she wanted to try this new thing, Aquedan. It's a shot that I get right in my hips, and let me tell you that I feel like a younger dog! I can lift my leg to pee again, I kick back the dirt like I used to, I can run, I can get up off the floor easier and basically I feel really good! The only clue that I'm an older dude is the gray around my muzzle. Life is good!

Just Gettin' Creaky, That's All

Went to the vet yesterday for my annual senior wellness exam, I must say, I am an EXCELLENT patient!! Even when they stuck that silver thing up my bum. I'm in pretty good health, but the vet said my hips and shoulders have lost some muscle mass, and I've got arthritis. Don't know how bad, but I've heard my person talk to her other dog friends about how I'm "slowing down" - not sure what she means, this summer I was pretty quick at the lake, chasing those porcupines! Not bad for an almost 10 year old! I know here at home in Arizona, it's kinda hard for me to get up off the tile floor, anyway Mom's giving me these new chewy things that are supposed to make me feel better and not so creaky, so we'll see. I also have been swimming, I hear that might be good for my old bones. All I know is that the weather here is not so hot anymore, so I'll get to go for more walks, yippee!! Woof!

Back in Arizona

My people and my younger sis Tess moved back to AZ in January, we left cold, rainy Oregon and I am pretty happy! We have a new house, a huge yard and a pool. I love being in the lake in Oregon, but I don't like getting in the pool here, couldn't tell ya why! My new neighborhood has lots of places for my Mom to walk me, we go every day. I'm getting up there in age (9.5) but I still feel pretty good and like to still work it up to a jog most days! My people bought new furniture for the new house, so they gave me their old leather couch to sleep on, am I spoiled or what?! Pretty soon we get to go back to Oregon for the summer, man that place is the best, I get to run free and swim in the lake and get stuck by porcupines (actually, that is no fun but I can't seem to ignore them like you'd think I would want to do!)
