I have a real title!

Ma and I trained for at least a year and a half, and I flunked 4 times, but on the 5th I was able to pass my draft test. Yeah! Now I am Sirius Black DD! Not that NPC wasn't a great title. I did lots of counter surfing and trash rummaging to earn that title.

I was almost naughty when we were taking the test. I had to pull past our car and thought I should just stop there and get in. Ma finally got me to start pulling again. I had to give her something to worry about. It would be boring to stay that I did the entire test absolutely perfectly. As it was, I did everything I needed to do to pass the test. Now she can train Sully, and I can take more naps.

Funniest in Sarasota

Wow, it's been a year since I've written a diary entry. Well, I did it again. I won a prize in the Howl-o-ween costume contest. This year I am the funniest dog in Sarasota. Ma made me a chick magnet costume! Pa helped by drawing the crazy chick on my bib. I must have been funnier than usual because people sure were laughing at me! The best thing was that I got to meet a lot of people and get lots of lovin'.

Most Handsome in Sarasota

Well doggie pals, I had a furbulous day last Saturday at the Howl-O-Ween costume contest sponsored by the Sarasota County Humane society. Ma sewed all week and pa glued a bunch of rhinestones on my costume to make me a swell Elvis costume. Then on Saturday I got to go by myself and leave Otto and Nellie at home to the costume parade. It's a good thing, too, because I was like a bull in a china shop; what did they expect, I had too many people to hug!

There were hundreds of pups and people there all dressed in their finest. We paraded twice around the judges. As I stepped out and the announcer said, "Ladies and Gentlemen, Elvis has NOT left the building!" I sure did get a lot of cheers, and had to greet the ladies standing on the other side of the ring. When all was said and done, they called me out for the Most Handsome first prize! I was so happy I celebrated by laying down while the rest of the winners were announced! All and all it was a wonderful day. Now people are recognizing me as I go out and about which means I get more hugs!

Paw Park

Well since my main posse members moved to Idaho, we've been too sad to go to the big park. We've been hanging out at the smaller park with lots of trees. Sunday we were in the big park area so we went there for the first time in months. Guess what? We met a new Newfie!!!! He is 7 and is a real cutie. He has a thyroid problem just like my pal Harvey. It started just this year so I wonder if 7 is the year for thyroid problems? Anyway, meeting Buster made us feel a little better and helped us miss our pals a little less.

4. I miss my paw park posse, Harvey and Cherokee! They moved all the way to Idaho and get to camp for the summer. P.S. Otto misses them, too.

6. My favorite person on the planet is ma. I am her velcro dog and will follow her everywhere.

7. I snore really loudly, but I wake up when ma turns the camera on so she can't get it on video!

Recent naughties

So even though pa is sick, I have managed to be naughty. At the paw park I pulled this nice lady's shorts down. She was squatting and calling her dog, I went for the hug, and pawed her shorts off. It happened across the park so ma and pa acted like they didn't know me.

I have expanded my table surfing. I used to leave the table alone if they didn't clear it off right away, but no more. The minute their back is turned, my booty is up on the table eating the leftovers. And I ignore pa when he tells me no. He can't get up and rush over to stop me.

And of course there still is the garbage rummage which is not fun anymore because they only put papers in it now.

On a good note, my brother, Otto, is fully recovered from his TPLO and is able to chase my booty, knock me down, and play tug of war!

My typist is fired.

That mean ma hasn't written in here furever! What else does she have to do? I have been busy trying to get as many hugs as I can. We haven't been able to go many places lately because pa is sick. He has been feelin' poorly since early June. At first they thought it was bronchitis or pneumonia, but it didn't get better. He had x-rays and CT scans that showed his right lung was very bad. Then he had a scope put up his nose and lung samples taken. They still didn't find anything. No bacteria, no fungus, no cancer. But his lung is still cloudy and not getting better. Finally they sent him to a surgeon who took one look at his lung and said the upper lobe has to come out because the tissue is dead, and since they don't know what caused it they can't be sure it won't spread. So he is gonna have surgery Thursday, and Grandma and Grandpa are coming to sit with ma. Yea! More people that will pay attention to me!

Yum Jello!

I haven't barked here for awhile. I've been busy takin' naps, getting hugs, greeting at the paw park, and raiding the trash. I had a good naughty recently, too. Pa was going to eat some jello that he bought at the store. He was sitting in his recliner and fell asleep with the jello in his lap. When he woke up, the jello was gone and the bowl was on the floor. I don't have a clue why they think I did it... moi naughty?

I made ma mad!

I was so naughty a couple of nights ago! I barked to go outside at 3 am, when daddy let us in I jumped in his spot on the bed. He told me to get off and I snarled and snapped and was going to bite him! Ma tried and I was going to bite her, too! He had to get the doggie gate and use that as a shield to get me off the bed. So much for gentle giant! I heard them say I am never allowed on the bed again. My booty is in so much trouble! I'm gonna have to lay low for awhile. It's bad, ma has been ignoring me ever since.

Today since it's April Fool's, you can see she changed me into a pelican! The photo is of her very favorite pelican, Mama Peli. You can see her right wing was partially amputated due to a wing fracture and couldn't be released. Mama Peli died 7 years ago a few months after ma quit her job at the bird sanctuary. Ma used to hand feed her every day because she was a diva. Some days she wanted the fish in the pool, some days she wanted it tossed to her, and some days she wanted them handed to her. One day ma was in a hurry and just put them in the pool. Mama Peli came up and gently took ma's hand in her beak as if to say, "No, I want you to hand them to me!" Now tell me wild animals don't have feelings. Mama Peli would also let ma hug her and rub her head every day.

Sirius' ma here. Seeing her picture here makes me so happy and sad. She was such a wonderful soul. People said she died because she missed me. I don't know about that. The people that worked in the hospital after me had corralled them and examined them. She died a day or two after they handled her. They had also put new white pelis from another facility in with her so it is possible they brought some sort of disease with them. So sad, I really do miss her.
