Smilin Penny

Here they come again
pulling me out of my pen.
Ive been here many a night
I'm just too tired to fight

They are looking at me
passing me around for all to see
I try not to get my hopes up
I'm bigger than a tea cup

They always say I'm too big
and toss me back in the breeding rig.
Ignoring them is how I cope
But I can't help but hope

One day the visitor will pick me
and a whole new world I will see
I'm so sad sometimes I scream
But still I can dream

Soon I feel a strangers hand
grabbing me where I stand
OOO what a gentle touch
These hands don't feel rough

She's placed me on her arm
I'm filling with alarm
Gently she pats my ear
pulling me softly near

She's carring me out the door
This is too scary to ignore
I shiver and shake
My whole body seems to quake

She's putting me in her truck
is this good or bad luck
Softly she speaks to me
I'm so scared I pee

Wait she isn't yelling
soon I start sniffing and smelling
round the old truck seat
I don't think I'll be beat.

Wait! we are stopping
My heat is throb throb throbing
She's grabbing me
holding me out for all to see.

I'm being sniffed and licked
I'm getting a bit ticked
But wait
these 3 dogs seem great

I'm starting to feel
this ladys love is real
She will feed and care for me
Gently pet and love me.

I start to shiver and shake
a deep breath I take
I pull my lips back not full of fears
and a pretty little smile appears

The lady is happy
The other pups yappy
and I recieved a name
Smilin Penny and here I will reign!

A SNAKE! A SNAKE!

sniff sniff sniff aroooooOOOOooooOOOOOOooo
We hads an adventure today. Mommy took me and Junior for a walk down by da lake. I was sniffing some grass at the edge of da rocks that line the lake shore and went YIPE!

Mommy thought that was odd so she went over to see what was there...and it was a SNAKE! HIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSssss!

Mommy grabed me and Junior and puts us in da car den took her phone and gots some pictures of da snake. They didn't turn out real good but she rushed us home and her and daddy poked and prodded and squeezed me all over and couldn't find a bite any where but just to be safe Mommy sent the pictures to the vet .....and wouldn't ya know it something went screwy with the vets email and dey didn't get the pictures but the vet had mommy feel me all over and check for any swelling anywhere. By now a good 45 minutes had passed and da vet said if there was no swelling anywhere then I had most likely not been bitten and probably yiped because da snake startled me. Well yeah...wouldn't it scare you?!?!?

She gave momma her home number incase any issues arrived during the night as a safety thingy. Da vet is about 30 miles away just incase ya was wondering. Anyhow its been 4 hours now and I is fine! Whewwwwwww we don't likes snakes we don't . Mommy is gonna put a picture of da snake on my page in just a bit.

But you all becareful playing out side...dere is snakes out der der is!

The Poop Family Name!

Several have asked about our family name..POOP.
So here is how it came about.

When mom brought Penny home to join our family her full name was
Penelope ..quickly shortened to Penny well actually Lucky Penny and mom would give Penny hugs and belly rubs and call her Penny Poopy Dawg..then she got to where she'd cuddle her and kind of sing Penny Poop Penny Poop Penny Poop PooP Poop. Mom has always had a tendency to call us all poopy dogs so it wasn't long before she was calling us the Poop Family. Even our Vet has us on record as the POOP Family.. so while it may not be real exciting that is it the story to the best of our memory of why we are called the POOP Family ...there ya go the Poop the Whole Poop and Nothing but the POOP!

I can PLAY and THEY STILL LOVE ME! YIPPPEEE!

Mommy is so surprised that lately I've been playing with her fingers!
Actually carring little toys around in my mouth! AND TODAY I tore up a tissue into itty bitty pieces! Well Okay she wasn't real thrilled about the tissue tearerism...but I still caught her grinning about it! Yippee I gots a furever home and I can be me!

Its taken almost 3 years but I'm finally comfortable enough to be me! Up till lately when mommy tried to play "I gots your Paw" or "Gots your nose" till now I've always been leary of getting involved..worried she may not really enjoy the game...may put me in a crate or send me away or something. I've never been so comfortable and UNWORRIED before! I'm starting to realize Mommy loves me...Heck I never liked men ..they were scary but ya know my very favorite spot to kick back and take a good nap now is right next to daddy on the couch! AND ya know he rubs my tummy just sooooooooo right! Men are great ..at least daddy is! I still has to remind myself that Mommy and Daddy LOVE ME! ME!! Oh I may not always thrill her ...like that tissue issue but ya know she still loves me and just kind of frowns and scolds me!! No nasties and she just told me No this isn't good...NO and that was it!! Ya know they don't even have a DOOR on our crate!! Its just a nice place to take a nap!

Yippppppppppppeeeeeeeee They Love me and I gots a real furever home!

Today mom brought home some DONOTS...some people call dem doughnuts but they are Donots around here..anyhow. Dad took one and I ran over and sat next to him and did a cuties little pittypat with my paws on his leg and fluttered my eyelids at him and he said: "What do you want ya little Winky Dinky"

Mom just cracked up. Anyhow I only seem to do the Winky part with dad...just stare mom down when I want something but I flutters my eyes at dad when he has something good to eat. And I'm always Dinky!

So today I became daddy's little Winky Dinky and I gots some donot TOO!

Well I decided to play with a squeaky toy today...I picked it up and wiggled and wagged my way over to MOM and she said OH LOOK AT PENNY! real loud to my Dad ..so I dropped the squeaky and rolled over on my back. I thought I was in trouble big time...but I wasn't. Dad scooped me up and that squeaky toy too and told me I was a good girl and wiggled and waggled that squeaky in front of me till I just couldn't resist...I grabbed it and ran to the kitchen with it, Then Mom called me and I ran back to the living room still carring that squeaky and Mom was just thrilled ...I'm not sure why but she was...She told Dad that it was a great gift to see me playing with a toy! Dad grined and said HO HO HO ....ME? well I dropped the toy and jumped up on Mom's lap for some cuddling and belly rubs. WOW I never played with toys before but it seems they sure are fun. I'm a HAPPY DOG!

NOTE From Penny's MOM: This is the first time since Penny came to live with us tha she has actually played with a toy. I don't think she was givin toys or played with before she came here...it took her awhile to figure out it was OK and tells me that she is happy to be with us. What a wonderful Christmas present my Penny Poop gave me this morning! HO HO HO!

This was actually a how I got my name tale but I think it fits here too:

My full name is Penelope Pepper Poop.
I used to be called Pepper by the people mom got me from.
I also used to spend most of my time in a kennel.
Mom saw an ad in the paper for me for weeks and finally went to see what I was all about. When she got there the lady pulled me out of my kennel and told mom I was afraid of men and I'd lived with them for a year...before that I had lots of puppys and all the other girls around me had lots of puppys and not long after people would come and take my puppys away...I was sad.

Anyhow mom asked about my health and who their vet was. When the lady said they didn't have a vet Mom looked at the little cage the lady pulled me out of and down at me quietly sitting on her arm and said "I'll take her"

Next thing I know I was being whisked off into a red pick up truck and where I sat and wondered what all this was about. My world was changing again. I sat on the passenger side not too sure of this new mom...she smelled good, I could smell other doggies and kittys on her too.

Soon we pulled up in front of an old house and I heard all kinds of Mommy's home Mommy's home yipping and yapping coming from inside it. I was snatched off the seat and taken in to meet my new family. There was Babydog..Shes at Rainbow Bridge now and Anniedog ..they are both BIG dogs and then there was Cisco Kidd...Gosh he's a handsome guy! When I first saw dad he seemed a bit surprised asked mom "Where did you get that?" when he saw me. Mom told him and said she didn't care for my name...yet she's superstitious and thinks you should never take a dogs name from them..you can add to it or shorten it but not remove it...don't ask me ..moms a little funny like that. Anyhow when dad asked what I was gonna be called mom said "PENNY...she is a Lucky Penny so she shall be Penelope Pepper ....Penny for short from now on" The Poop came later but ya know I love my name and Cisco, Junior and I are one happy POOP Family!

Soon I was thrilled to be at this new house..ya know they didn't even have a kennel...and there's this little door just my size I can run through and go outside when ever I want and get back in when ever I want too!!!!

I learned lots of new things..learned I could jump up on the couch and even the bed. Love jumping up on the bed at night and cuddling up next to DAD! I like MEN!

One day Mom told me she wanted me to have one more litter of pups...I thought here we go again..now it starts. But then she said " I promise one more litter and we will find good homes for all but one puppy that puppy will stay right here with you" WOW that sounded neat ...and before you know it I had some romantic interludes with Cisco and 5 pups on the way.

Too soon though my pups were leaving Chico went to live with one of mom's friends and I see him quite often. Nellie lives with a wonderful family in OH...I get to see pictures of her quite often. Snoop doggy dog lives about 40 miles from us and is quite happy. Unfortunately little Butchie had heart problems and went to the bridge at just 8weeks old...I'll seem him when I go there one day. That left little JUNIOR and I sure worried every time mom picked him up and went out the door....I thought for sure it was gonna be the same old same old and I'd never see him again...BUT SHE KEEPS BRINGING HIM BACK............YIPPPEEEEEEEEE my Junior is here to stay. And there will be no more pups for me..Mom made sure of that.

I've lived here two years and ya know ...I'm finally realizing that I've found my real family and this is where I'm gonna live for the rest of my life!
