Quick Bio:

Loud noises, not being paid enough attention, the lint roller, baths

Favorite Toy:
Tennis balls, squeaky toys, the cat, rope bones, and FRISBEE!!

Favorite Food:
Pretty much anything and everything we have to eat. She'll even eat vegetables!

Favorite Walk:
Shelby Farms ... anywhere she can run free

Best Tricks:
Catch, fetch, sit, lie down, still, "use your stairs," "put it in my hand," "get the kitty," & "say hi!" (She loves that one)

Arrival Story:
I've had Shelties all my life .. this past January I decided I wanted to get another one, and started looking through the paper for breeders and such. January 24th, after I got out of class that morning, I went and looked at two Shelties. The male was a sable, and wasn't very playful .. but Abbi was vibrant and playful and very energetic .. and when I picked her up, I knew she was the one for me.

She's a very sweet little girl that loves to please anyone she meets. She shares most of the typical Sheltie traits ... yearning to please, very smart, highly energetic. She's a small pup though, about 13" from her shoulder blades to the floor. She's the third sheltie I've had in my life, but by far the most lovable. She sleeps right next to me every night, wakes me up in the morning when my fiance comes home from work, and greets me at the door when I come home with such enthusiasm that every drop of stress and worry melts away. It's so funny to see her do her little two-step when I walk in the door.

Mama's really lagging behind with my diary, isn't she? Maybe I should go bite her in the butt to make her make more entries for me.

So, about two weeks ago, she brings home this puppy and says she's going to live with us from now on. I was like, wait a minute, what? Are you trying to replace me? I don't understand. The little pipsqueak was really annoying at first, and she still follows me around everywhere and chews on my fur and bites my ears, but I'm getting used to her. Mama even explained to me that she and Daddy aren't trying to replace me ... they're just expanding, whatever that means. They say they have more than enough love to go around for the both of us. That makes me feel a lot better, because I don't know what I would do if I thought they didn't love me anymore. It would make me really sad.

Izzy and I are getting along pretty well so far. She follows me a lot and we run around the house and backyard chasing each other, and it's a lot of fun. I only wish she would hurry up and grow up some so I could play more with her. Mama says I have to be really careful because she can't play as hard as I can. I bet she could if she wanted to .. I think she's just being a wimp! I'll teach her how to play, though. Don't worry!

Lately I've been coughing a lot, and Mama says that if I don't get better soon, I'm going to have to go to the vet. I don't want to go! The last time I went, they stuck me with something and it hurt! They tried to make up for it by giving me a cookie, but I wouldn't take it from them because how can you trust someone that just stuck you with something sharp? You can't! But I haven't coughed hardly at all today, so Mama thinks I'm doing a lot better. She's still worried about my nose being warm some of the time, but maybe this means I won't have to go to the vet. I'm hoping, I'm hoping, I'm hoping!

Well, it's really late, and I'm getting tired. Keeping this puppy in line is so tiring! I'll be sure to tell Mama to update this more for me .. because I know you all love hearing about my life! :D

Love, Abbi

Why won't you play?!

Mama's not playing with me right now like I want her to. I think she's upset because something bad happened at work today. I loved and cuddled with her earlier to show that I was sorry and that I love her, and I think it made her feel a little bit better. She said it did. :)
Anyway, Mama and Daddy took me to the park last Friday with one of Mama's friends. I liked her a lot, because she had three camera to take pictures of me with. And I got to see ducks! Daddy fed them bread and they came so close to the edge of the water that I almost got to eat one. Well, I don't think I would have eaten it .. just chewed on it a little. Ducks are weird birds. They make these weird sounds and flap their wings and they can fly. I had a fun time at the park though. Mama videotaped the whole thing.
She also says I have to get a bath today, because I stink. I can't help it! I love playing outside and getting dirty. What dog doesn't?! But I really, really don't like baths. I growl at the water every time she pours it on me. But everyone says I smell so good when it's all said and done with, so I guess it isn't all bad.
Okay, I think Grandma wants to go outside and play with me, so I'm gonna go.
Oh, wait, no she isn't .. Mama's getting mad again because she keeps telling her to do stuff that isn't her job. :( I hope today isn't going to be a bad day. I don't want Mama to be upset.

Love, Abbi

Wow, it's really late for Mama to be typing a journal entry for me. She says she doesn't have anything else to do. Oh well, I'm going to go lie down while she types this. I'm really sleepy.
Mama and Daddy got me this thing called a Frisbee yesterday. It's this big, round, flat thing that they throw and it flies! At first I was afraid of it .. but after I saw it wasn't going to hurt me, I started trying to catch it and eat it. Daddy said I did really good when I started bringing it back to him, and I was having a lot of fun running after it. They made me stop a lot to get water, though, since it's still kinda hot in the city I live in. I can't wait for colder weather, then I won't be so hot when I go outside to play!
Anyway, after a while of throwing the Frisbee, I started catching it while it was still in the air. Mama and Daddy were so proud of me! They said that they saw these dogs at a dog show last weekend that ran after these Frisbees, jumped up and caught them in midair. They said they want to teach me how to do that. They also said something about flyball .. I don't know what that is, but it sure sounds like fun! If there's a ball involved, I'm there!
Mama also says she wants to dress me up for Halloween. She's been looking for a costume all over the place but says she can't find one that's cute enough for me. Honestly, I don't want her to dress me up .. every time she puts my bandana on me, I try to eat it. Chances are I'm going to try to eat this costume, whatever it may be.
But maybe I'll let her take some pictures first! :) She never tires of doing that.
Okay, Mama's getting very tired now. It's almost 3am! Way past my bedtime! I'll make sure to update some more on this Frisbee thing, and maybe some pictures!
