Sailor has gone to the Rainbow Bridge...

This will be the last entry in Sailor's diary. I am so very sad to have to share the news that we had to help Sailor to the rainbow bridge this past Thursday. He had suffered from some sort of disk problem and could not use his "back end" at all. We had to help him with a sling. We made several visits to the vet, and he initially responded to medication. However, he soon started losing ground, and was suffering.

We felt that as his guardians, we had to do the kind thing and set him free. We are devasted and miss him desperately. Knowing that he's at peace and free from pain is some comfort. Memories of the time we had with Sailor comfort us as well.

Sailor was a blessing. He was the empitome of what it is to be a newf... and was a true gentle giant. The time we had with him was a true gift....

Until we meet again Sailor-man. We love you, and will forever and ever.

Foiled by some darned racoons.

Well, I tell you! I am sooooo ticked off at the racoons in our neighborhood. You see, my Mom and I take a special walk every morning after breakfast. And I have her sooooooooooooooooooooooo bamboozled. I stand at the step leading to the porch and just look at her.

She calls me, and tells me to come, and I just look at her. So then she lures me with some sort of treat. She gets them out of her car, where she always has extra biscuit's on hand.

Well, one day, she ran out of biscuits, and found some of those cheese and peanut butter crackers. BOY THOSE ARE GOOD!!! I would do anything for that. So, she stashed a secret supply on the porch, and every morning, I'd get one for coming on to the porch. My Mom loves me soooooooooooooooo much!!!

Then, the other day, racoons found them, and they're all gone. Now I'm back to Dog Biscuits.... which are ok, but they're not Cheese and Peanutbutter. Oh well....

So much snow... so little time

We have had alot of snow this winter. And I love it. I mean... my yard is like one big giant snow cone! I love snow! I love eating it. I could eat it all day... it's like an "all you can eat" buffet! BUT...

Annie & Russell won't let me eat it. They say it makes me sick.... and sometimes I do throw up after eating it. But it's sooooooooooooooooo good! So who cares?????

Humans.... I will just never "get" them.

Signed,

Your Friend Sailor
Snow Cone King

I am so sorry to be so late in reporting this, but I have been very busy getting ready for the howlidays. I am so pleased to announce that I made my theatrical debut on Saturday, November 27, 2004, in a stage-like production of Peter Pan. As you may have already guessed, I played Nana.... and from what I have been told, I was BRILLIANT. My scene was with Wendy and Peter, and Peter's shadow! I dazzled the audience, and was encourage to interact with the audience. Over 900 people came to see me... and though I didn't give any autographs, I did give some kisses... and got alot of scratches, and treats tooooo!

I have a new foster brother. His name is ben. He was very sad when he came to our house. He was scared... and I think he was scared of me. That hurt my feelings at first, but he seems to have gotten used to me now. Ben likes to run and play... and he and Kira can get really wild. Cora joins in every so often and I do occasionally. I so wish we could go to the dog park... it would be such fun to run and play and see my friends. In the meantime, maybe Annie will take me for a walk.. cause I'm needing some extra-special attention! ;)

Autumn

I love autumn! It's cooler out and I feel so much better. It's been fun playing more with Kira & Cora! I love running around the yard when Mom & Dad come home from work. It's so good to see them... and they give me lots of hugs and kisses, and then I get my dinner.

Last night, I was trying to get something from underneath my dinner dishes, and I tipped over the whole feeding stand. Nobody saw me do it, so I went to find my Mom & Dad. Dad was in the den, and he saw that my head was soaking wet. He told Mom, who went to find out what happened. She cleaned up the spilled water and Dad dried my head off. Of course, he then had to brush me, but oh well..... they didn't get mad at me.. cause they knew I didn't do it on purpose. They never get mad at me cause I'm a good boy!

I was sleepy this morning when everyone was up and getting ready for the day. I don't like getting up early, except for breakfast. So, I lay sprawled comfortably in the doorway, making it necessary for everyone to step over me! Mom and Dad are away at work now. I can't wait for everyone to come home again!!!
