Arrival Story: Harlequin was a gift from God. I needed a service dog and wanted a Newfoundland. After a five year search I found a breeder that I wanted to work with but new that I was going to have to wait at least another year to get a puppy. Devastatingly for the breeder several of the puppies were born with foreleg anomaly and it was overwhelming for her. It looked as though the puppies might get 6 months to a year before they would need to be put down due to pain and quality of life issues. I offered to foster one of the puppies for her so she would not have to deal with all of them and after great debate she agreed giving me the one with the least amount of issue on the x-rays. Well Her legs have barely changed and she is almost 8 months old and she has the perfect personality for me. She has been reminding me to take my medicine ever since she was 11 weeks and I brought her home at 10 weeks. So far I could not have asked for a better service dog.
