Hey everyone! It is me!!

My typist tells me she is suffering from writer's block and can't think of a thing to write about! Can you believe that? I mean, really, I give her so much good stuff to write about everyday!

Mom's brother came to visit last week and we had a really good visit. I just love him. I know, I know, I love everyone, but I especially love this uncle and followed him everywhere. I was sad when he went home.

Mom has been getting lots of stuff out of the garden. Corn was on today's agenda. We are still having unseasonably warm weather and mom seems to like heating up the house with blanching vegetables. She says all this blanching will pay off once winter is here, so maybe she knows what she is doing.

I have another ear infection, but as long as mom gives me some hotdog pieces, I will let her put the drops in my ears. I still like to make her chase me and catch me before she does this however.

Mom starts her new obedience class next week and I am trying my hardest to bring her up to speed on what she should already know. I am doing my best to be very patient with her!

Hope all you pups are having a wonderful summer!

One year ago today, Buddy, you came to help mend our hearts. We have watched you transform from a scared, sick, young pup to the healthy, alert, active dog you are today.

You have become quite a hunter of rodents, and I honestly think you excel at it and you might even be a better hunter than Abby ever was. I do wonder if you speak "parseltongue" though! You seem to be friends with the snakes, and enjoy just watching them slither around. They never would have stood a chance with Abby.

Thank you for making our home complete Buddy and we look forward to many more gotcha day anniversaries.

Hugs and kiss - mom

This and That

My goodness. It has been nearly a month since I last updated. Personally, I blame mom!

We have had a heat wave up here that last few weeks, so mom and I tried to get everything done outside first thing in the morning. I must point out here that we do not have AC in the house. After finishing up outside, mom and I would come in the house and then mom would start boiling large tubs of water to sterilize bottles. Did I mention we don't have AC? Anywhoodle, all the bottles she was sterilizing she filled with jellies and syrups from all the berries she picked. Daddy's work is having a farmer's market next week and he will be taking a bunch of the jellies and syrups to be sold at it. All money from the farmer's market goes to cancer research, so that is good.

I have also been helping mom start to bring in the produce from the garden. I am a very good helper, and I would quite often stick my head into the bucket she was using and would eat the beans, peas, snap peas she was picking. I figured if I ate a bunch of stuff, it would be less work for her cleaning and blanching all of it. Plus blanching would once again heat up the house and we don't have AC.

Mom has once again signed herself up for obedience classes and once again she is insisting I go with her. Whatever! She needs all the help she can get.

On the weekend I was playing with something under the deck and mom yelled at me to stop, and then she unceremoniously dragged me into the house. Yes, dragged as I did not want to go and she forced me to get away from what I was playing with.

Turns out I was playing with an injured juvenile Northern Flicker or woodpecker. Daddy put it in a box in a quiet place and the peeps kept me away from it. Mom phoned around and got some info on what to do and on Monday, daddy took him to Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation in Saskatoon. The people there took him to the vet college and had him x-rayed and turns out he had not only broken his coracoid bone, but also burst an air sac. He is on cage rest for the next few weeks and then will be released back into the wild. If you want to see a picture of my bird and are on Facebook, please go to the Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation page. Once again they are in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and you can see a picture of him there.

Hope everyone is having an awesome summer!

My own gazebo!

Pups, I just don't like the sun! I keep trying to find shady places to lie down all the time. The peeps were at Costco this week and came across a children's gazebo. The hummed and hawed about it and then decided to buy it and build it for me!

Today was the day the gazebo got built and I think I will really like it. Mom is putting some pictures on my page.

Anybody wanna come and hide out in my gazebo with me?

Thank you!!

Well, would you lookey there! I appear to be a Diary Pick of the Day today!

Thanks to all the pals that have sent rosettes and congratulations wishes. This has really made my day.

It is staying hot here, so mom and I are gonna try to do a few things outside before retreating indoors to try and stay cooler. We don't have AC but the basement is nice and cool.

I have discovered the joys of living next door to an orchard and I am quite good at removing the ripe saskatoon berries from the lower branches of the trees. The neighbor did tell mom to help herself to the fruit, so I am doing my bit as well. Mom wants to make a rhubarb/saskatoon berry pie soon.

I am also becoming quite a little hunter of varmints. Mom says I am chaneling my inner Abby when I do this. All I can say is those critters don't belong in my yard!

Is anyone else not getting notifications from Dogster when they leave messages? We have not been getting notifications for close to a week now, so are wondering if this is happening to anyone else.

Well, thanks again Dogster for making me a diary pick and to all my pals that are helping me celebrate today!

Soooooo Very Tired!

Pups, my pawsome cousin Russ was here for a visit yesterday evening. Him and his family left today to continue their journey home from holidays, but I once again had so much fun with him.

We raced up and down the road, went running into the swamp and generally had a good time! We growled at each other and ate each other's food and took turns playing with toys.

Russ has been away on vacation for 3 weeks now, so I am sure everyone will be happy to get back to their routine later this week.

I have to go and catch up on some sleep now and no doubt cousin Russ is catching a few zzzzzz's right now in his Russ mobile. I would say they should be home by Wednesday and then I hope aunty sends more pictures of me playing with my pawsome cousin.

Later pups. I really need to rest up now!

Mom won't let me go swimming

Nope mom won't let me anywhere near the river for the next while. Not sure if you pups heard, but last week there was lots of flooding in our neighboring province of Alberta. Those poor people got an incredible amount of rain a very short period of time. The city of Calgary had the downtown area evacuated due to all the water. The Saddledome where the Calgary Flames play was filled with water up to the 8th row of seats. The Calgary Stampede grounds was totally flooded and it is still not known if that event, which is set to start on July 5 will be able to go ahead. Many people were evacuated, many homes in the town of High River (appropriately named unfortunately) were destroyed, homes in other areas were also damaged, highways and roads were washed out. It was and still is a mess and people are now just being allowed to see what damage has been done.

Now where does all that water go? Well my river, the South Saskatchewan River, will be getting a lot of it. The river has risen dramatically over the last day and mom is taking pictures and sending it to the local news station. The flow rate of my river has increased from 500 cubic metres per second to 6000 cubic metres per second. We are noticing large debris floating down the river and the two ferries near us have ceased operation due to the high water levels and extremely swift current. We are being advised to stay away from the river until the raging water subsides.

So pups, I will not be swimming in my river for a while. We send positive thoughts to our neighboring province as the clean up there continues.

Now we wait to see what damage will be done as the water enters our province.

Fun, Fun!

My pawsome cousin Russ came for a visit! Him and his daddy are on a cross Canada trip from B.C. to Ontario. His momma, my mommy's sister, is gonna fly out after she is done work. Why aunty wants to fly that far is beyond me and I think her arms are really gonna be tired, but whatever!

Any whoodle, Russ was here last night and we had so much fun. Since he is a Border Collie, he tried to herd me. That was ok, because we had so much fun running into and out of the bog. We even got up at 3:30 a.m. to play!

My momma and Russ's daddy took us for a walk at that time and then everyone tried to get back to sleep. I had so much fun with Russ that I whimpered all night outside the bedroom they were using!

They are planning on stopping in when they head back west and I can't wait to play with Russ again!

The ways I show daddy I love him

I have many ways that I show daddy I love him.

Last night, for instance, I walked up to the table while daddy was seated at it and he started petting me. I drew in closer to daddy, my deep mournful eyes lost in daddy's eyes. I strained to get closer, and closer still, until daddy and I were only inches apart. It was only when I felt I was close enough to daddy that I let loose with a thundering belch from the deepest depths of hell that I am sure will forever haunt daddy's nightmares.

Hey pups! How is everyone doing?

I have started taking the momma to Obedience Class. Yup, I sure have! This week our homework is learning the "Focus" command and the "Sit" command. I am treating her with pieces of cheese when the momma does well! BOL!

I saw my neighbor for the first time this year. He was working in the orchard and getting everything ready for this year's saskatoon berry and sour cherry crop. Please don't tell him about the holes I may or may not have dug in his orchard! Thanks, that will be our little secret!

The first thing he said when he saw me was "He looks happier and healthier than the first time I saw him". Mom then told him about my illness after coming to my furever home and he hugged me and said "You have been adopted by the bestest parents ever"! Yeah me!

Mom wasn't feeling well yesterday, so I helped look after by not asking to go out much and just keeping her company. Today she would like to finish getting the garden planted, but for some reason she doesn't like me to help her do this!

Daddy took me down to the river this weekend and when he threw a stick into the river, I didn't hesitate, but just jumped in and started swimming. I love water anywhere!

Well, that is about it! Hope all my pals are keeping busy and enjoying spring as well!
