On June 11, 2012 I took the Boy to the vet.
Overall, he appeared to be in good health. His temperature was fine, he didn't have any symptoms/signs of parasites, he was eating, drinking, thriving.
The veterinarian did find a HUGE lump in his belly. She held her hands up and said, "It's really big." The size she showed me was that of a head of lettuce. HUGE!!
She suggested we do blood work (which is scheduled for this Wed, June 20th) to determine if the tumor is effecting his liver, kidneys, stomach, etc. She said she has a feeling it is spleen related.
She said we would probably do x-rays with sedation if the blood work comes back okay. Surgery will be discussed after we determine what it is we're dealing with.
She asked if he had lost any weight. This guy has always been on the small side. No matter how I try to beef him up, his finicky ways prevent it. And when he blows a coat, he always seems to be smaller. I remember taking him to the vet over and over when he was transitioning from puppy to young doggie because he was so small and linky. The vet said, "He looks good, he has that perfect hour-glass figure," so, I gave up on him being a big beeefy dog.
Sadly, I held his face the other day and looking into his eyes and rubbing the sides of his nose, I do think he's lost some weight. My guess is that the tumor is sucking most of his nutrition.
I tried to read online about canine tumors. There was a lot of different scenario's but it seemed to me the 'fast-growers' were most likely malignant tumors. I deemed it a fast grower from what I've observed in such a short period of time.
I'm not going to worry about it until we get his blood work back Thur or Fri.
I have noticed him lying in the kitchen on tile (at night) which isn't like him. I've also noticed he seems to squirm, as if maybe the tumor is causing pressure when he lays.
Just last night when I was rubbing his belly I thought I felt a small lump (like the sz of a quarter) along his ribcage. My first thought was, oooh no, lymph nodes.
I think I have to accept this boy is probably living his last days.

Not so long ago, about 3 weeks, I noticed a lump when he would lie on his side. The lump was just in front of his hind leg, along side his belly. My kids agreed something wasn't right.
Bobo is really sick.

A few months back I noticed Bodhi was drinking tons of water. I could hardly keep up with filling his bowl; every time I turned around it was empty. Of course he needed outside more often which also kept me on my toes.
With the exception of drinking a lot of water, and peeing more often, he appeared fine. (He ate and thrived all the same.)
He had two accidents in the house (early on) and I assumed he had a urinary tract infection. I found a home remedy of probiotics, which he wouldn't eat, then I tried a cap full of vinegar in his water bowl. About a wk later I noticed no change, and stopped.
