DAY 242, Monday, 11/5/12

No worries. I’m fine. Well…almost. I was pretty weak this morning and didn’t want to eat, but Bob took me to a really nice new vet. She took some X-rays and decided that I probably ate something I shouldn’t have. She gave me some medicine, and by afternoon, I was much better. Just to be sure, though, she also gave me an antibiotic to take for the next week.

Remember how I told you that Bob would be a basket case without me? Well, it turns out that he’s pretty much a basket case when I just get a little sick. Poor Bob.

I’ve been a bit under the weather today. In fact, I’ve thrown up several times. I think I’ll ask Bob to take me to the doctor tomorrow.

Tony and Bob went to dinner with friends tonight and then took in the monthly Art Walk. I think they should have taken me with them. After all, I’m a work of art.

I got my tag from 24PetWatch this week. When I adopted Tony and Bob, I got a microchip implanted under my skin so that I could always find them if they ever got lost. The tag has my ID number and the phone number to call. I’m still not sure why I’m the one who got the implant instead of Tony and Bob, but, oh well…. It’s good, though, because Bob would be totally useless without me. Tony would survive, but Bob would be a basket case.

Halloween. I was hoping that lots of kids would drop by—I love kids—but none showed. Drat.

My diary was a Dogster Daily Pick again today. I now have 51 pup pals on Dogster, and my page has been viewed more than 1,000 times. Tony says that I have more online friends than Bob has on Facebook. Bob said, “Thanks for pointing that out, Tony,” but I’m not sure he really meant it. I think he’s jealous.

I got annoyed today with two things that happened at the bark park. First, a couple of dogs got into a fight, and then other dogs jumped in. I’m too smart for that; I just backed off, and Bob and I left.

Before that, though, we overheard a woman say that she wants to get her dog designated as a service dog so she can take him with her into restaurants and other places. People just don’t seem to understand that a service dog designation is not a mere convenience. A service dog is one that has been trained to assist a person with a disability. “Fake” service dogs give us real service dogs a bad name, and we resent it!

I found out today that Blue Buffalo has trading cards with profiles of different dogs, so I asked Bob why there isn’t one for me. Well, he and I went to the Blue Buffalo Website and created one for me. It should be available in a few days. I’ll keep you posted.

Tony’s sister Ro and my buddy Victor live back East in the path of that storm that everyone’s talking about. I hope they stay safe. I’ll say a woof prayer for them.

A man and woman came today and delivered a whole big pile of wood. Tony and Bob burn it in the fireplace to keep warm. Me…I don’t need fire; my coat keeps me warm, but Tony and Bob aren’t so lucky.

The bad thing about the firewood is that it takes up so much room on the patio, and I was just getting used to having all that room to run around in. The good news is that it was pretty warm today, so I got to stay out on the patio for quite a while.

I woof Tony. I think he’s now my favorite roommate. He and Bob went to PetSmart today—they should have taken me with them, but I’ll let that go for now—to buy me some food. Blue Buffalo is more expensive that the other foods, but Tony insists on buying only the best for me. What’s more, Tony asked Bob if I needed any more treats or toys, and Bob said no, “He’s got enough.” Tony insisted on getting me a toy anyway: a squeaky raccoon. I woof it! It only took me about 10 minutes to pull the squeaker out of it, but now I won’t go anywhere without it.

Also, the other day, Bob bought a gate to put on our patio fence so I can run around on the patio safely, but he never got around to putting it together. In his defense, he says that he’s still busy putting everything away from the move, but Tony finally put the gate together and set it up today, so I got to spend a couple of hours on the porch playing with my new raccoon toy and watching the world go by. Thank you, Tony. I woof you!

Since everything went well at the bark park yesterday, Bob and I decided to go back again today, and guess what: there was another dog there that looked like she could be my sister. As yesterday, I had a grand time playing with the other Canines. When we got home, though, Bob had to wipe down my paws and legs because they were covered with dirt.
