Vet visit

I've had so many owies this summer I haven't even written about all of them. It started with my big puffy red foot, then I had a sore on my back. Next I got an itchy red eye, then my ear got so itchy I scritched and scritched until I made it bleed! That was last week, and it took until today befure I could get in to see the vet. Meanwhile my foot started to swell up and turn pink again.

Mommy's been washing and wiping and putting all sorts of goops and ointments on my boo-boos, but she's only just keeping ahead of me! So she wanted the vet to check me out. He gave me a shot and said it's allergies and she's doing fine. He gave her more magic juice to rub on me. [mommy note: It's really Panalog; we call it Magic Juice because it seems to cure everything. We should get it by the gallon!] He says the fleas have been especially bad this year, especially the sand fleas, and that's why I flare up after we go to a beach. We'll probably stay away from beaches fur awhile.

He spent most of his time with Hershey! That's fine with me, BOL!!!

Thanks, Lola! Mommy copied this from eHow: Panalog ointment is a topical treatment that contains a combination of ingredients which fight off yeast (anti-fungal), decrease inflammation (corticosteroid) and treat infections (antibiotics). It is available in two forms: ointment and cream. While Panalog cream is only used to treat inflammation and infections of the skin, the ointment is more versatile and is used to treat both skin and ear disorders.

It looks like you did get to have some fun at the beach tho! Minus those pesky flea bites! Ouch!

I am having BAD allergy problems too, Winkie! I am going to write about all thats gone on in my diary soon. But, long story short, my paws and front legs were turning ORANGE after walking outside in the grass. Mom just washed whatever it was off...
But then, I started licking and chewing my paws. BAD! Off to the vet we went and in addition to allergies, I developed a Bacterial infection and needed Amoxy for 10 days, and am on Hydroxyzine, an anti-histamine. The doc gave me special shampoo, which is GREAT! Its called DERMAL SOOTHE. He told mom to put some on a wet cloth and wipe my feet every time we come in. (Talk about a pain in the tush!) Mom did that, but I was still at them! So, now, I have to go in the tub and get my feet and legs washed EVERY time we come in! Talk about a PAIN in mom's tush! But, its working and is worth it. Cuz my feet are 100% better.

A friend looked into why my feet were turning orange after walking, and we found that our grass here has something called RUST DISEASE! It is a fungus that kills the lawn. Mom took pics and gave Management info on how to treat the grass (nitrogen). Management keeps planting seed and fertilizing, but its not helping cuz this disease. Hopefully, they will treat it soon! We dont walk on the grass, if it can be helped!

Anyway, (Geez, this is turning into a book! LOL!) Mom wanted to try a grain-free food, which may help a bit with my allergies. It was a toss up between Taste of the Wild, and Innova. She went with Innova just because TOTW also makes a food called Diamond, which is not good quality. Mom bought a big bag of dry Innova, (she usually gets small to try), and a whole case of wet. WELL - mom thinks the Hydroxyzine is affecting my appetite, cuz I am not eating much at all these days. So, mom doesnt think its a good time to change foods, as she cant figure out if I dont like the new food, or if I'm not hungry. She did do an experiment and put down a bowl of my regular food, Royal Canin Puppy, and RC with some of the new Innova. Guess which I went for? THE RC!

I've heard GREAT things bout TOTW! Mom might try that for me... have you tried it yet? Please let me know!

Thanks, Zane! Believe it or not, all my owies are gone now! The shot and a week of Auntie-Biotics seem to have done the trick!

Hershey is another story, BOL!!

We've just started transitioning to the TOTW. Daddy figured we had just ovfur a week's worth of our old food left, so we can do it slowly. It'll take a month or so to tell if it's helping, but we have high hopes! We're just doing the dry. The store gave mom a free can of transition-formula punkin in case we start getting icky poops!
