I have a lot of friends on Facebook who do rescue. Around the 23 of Dec. 2010 one of them posted about a pomeranian hoarders house getting raided. They humane society had come in and taken over 20 dogs from the house and they were trying to get rescues to pull the dogs.
A friend of mine from Dogster who lives about a half hr from me had saw it too and wanted to foster.
I wasn't looking for another dog and had never fostered before but pommies are my heart breed and I really wanted to do something.
Well I started working on my husband. Telling him about the situation and he would just look at me and say what do you expect me to do.
Then I got an e-mail with a few of the dogs on it. No pictures just descriptions.
All of them had names but one. It said he was 5 months old, small and a red parti.
I thought if I got a younger dog he might be easier integrate and bounce back from his ordeal.
I went back to work on my husband. Finally he said ok but you know you aren't going to foster it. He was right I knew I wouldn't be able to give away any dog I brought home.
On December 26 My daughter Jordyn and I and Loki set out With Roxanne and her boyfriend to meet up with some rescuers. Roxanne was going to foster Dusty and Patch and I was going to adopt No Name. On the way there she recieves a call from some of the rescuers who have been back to the house for more dogs. They have taken more than 40 dogs from the house.
We drove an hr from my house and met in a parking lot. It was cold and nasty and the dogs were wrapped up and shivering with fright. Except Dusty who was just plain excited.
I saw No Name for the first time and he broke my heart he was so cute, small and underweight.
We got back in our car. I had No Name on my lap and Jordyn had Loki.
Dusty and Patch were up front with Roxanne and John.
Todd just layed in my arms and looked at me and gave me a little lick on the nose. I was in love. On the way back to our car and he just stared at me or tried to get closte to Loki. My Little sweetheart of a dog wasn't havin it.
When we finally got home I put him down outside to go potty and brought the other dogs out to have a look at him. they soon move on and ignored him. Todd on the other hand had his tail tucked and was crawling on his belly.
In the house we went and I felt terrible but I had to bath him twice to get the dirt and smell off him. I felt awful since he was so scared.
Freshly bathed I took him back to my room. I put him on my bed and he crawled right on me and cuddled and licked me. I couldn't believe how affectionate this little guy was.
Jordyn names him Todd after the fox in The Fox and the Hound cause he has a foxy little face.
Off the bed was a different story. He crawled everywhere. He ran away if you were standing or walking. He didn't want to come back in the house when you put him out in the pen to potty.
Next I take him to the vets to have him checked out and neutered. There I find out that the vet thinks according to his teeth his is probably 2yrs not 5 months. He also has worms.
By the time I get home I'm extremely upset thinking about the fact that he is 2 yrs old and nobody cared enough about him to give him a name. I'm crying and I can't stop.
Todd is scared and skittish but so wants to be around the family. He follows me wherever I go but will run if you make a move towards him.
After about a week or so the crawling has just about stopped. he knows his name and wiggles his butt when you call him but still won't come up to you.
He has won Chewy over but is still working on Angus and Loki.
I get on the floor with him a lot lay down try to get my self as low as possible. the other dogs are all over me and this boosts his courage and he soon is too.
Seeing him lay next to Loki on the couch and Loki not get up and walk away makes my whole week. then one day I see Angus lick his face and I know we're in the clear.
Todds confidence grows by leaps and bounds and he impresses me with his progress. When I take him to play with the dogs out in the snow he plays with such joy and abandonment he makes me smile and laugh.
He has become the perfect companion. You would never know by meeting him where he came from. He is just so happy and joyous.
It makes me cry writing this just thinking about how far he has come. My husband loves him and says he's where he belongs.
I have to keep a close eye on people cause everyone who meets him wants him. I feel so lucky that he is mine.
I like to think he likes it here too.
That is the story of No Name who is now Todd.
But that is not the end just the beginning.

You live in Mesick? We are in TC. Is Todd one of the Kalkaska hoarding dogs?
Todd is one lucky dog.
We are practically neighbors! BOL!
He came from a situation near Grand Rapids I believe.
And thank you. We consider ourselves lucky, he is really special.
