The Life of the Red Dog
It was just a CYST!October 4th 2005 2:26 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Well, I had to go to the vet last week for a not-so-routine-check-up. Mom and Dad found a lump along my spine a couple of weeks ago. I was in heat, so we had to wait to make an appointment with Dr. George. Then, Dr. George wasn't in, but we got a really nice lady doctor who took care of everything. They had to stick a needle into my "lump" so that they could take some of the cells to the microscope. It all came back OK! It is only a sebacious cyst that may or may not pop on its own. At least it isn't cancer....I don't know what that is, but mom and dad were happy with the results. My lump was bleeding from the ouchy needle, so I got a handful of treats from the vet lady and we were on our way. What a relief!!!
Separated....And SadMay 27th 2005 4:58 am[ Leave A Comment ]
Mom and dad have really had it this time. Angus and I have pushed them right over the edge. See, we have a large pen that pappy built for us in the family room. Mom wanted us to have room to move and a nice place to call our own. Originally, it was Angus' place, because he was their first pup. Then, I came along and once I was big enough, we got to sleep together in "our" pen.
What kind of dog is that?April 19th 2005 7:47 pm[ Leave A Comment ] People are always asking my mom and dad, "What kind of dog is that?". When we go to South Park for our walk, people are always stopping and staring at me...it is kind of creepy. When I first started growing up, everyone thought that I was a boxer. Then, I became much bigger than a boxer. Now, everyone thinks that I am a mastiff puppy. When mom tries to explain that I am a bullmastiff, no one knows what kind of dog she is talking about. Mom says it is because we are rare in our area, but I feel left out. The other day, someone called me a rottweiler! They must have been confused. Mom might make me a t-shirt that says, "Don't ask...bullmastiff!" At least I have Angus to share the stares with me. No one knows what he is either.
A Walk in the ParkApril 7th 2005 8:15 pm[ Leave A Comment ] The weather is finally nice enough for me and Angus to jump in the Jeep and head to our favorite social spot...South Park. Mom and dad won't let us go in the off-leash dog park anymore. We tend to gang up on the other dogs and we apparently don't know our own strength when it comes to playing with the little dogs. Regardless, we still love to go for our walks on the trails. Today, I saw my very first deer in person. She was standing right in front of me and I didn't even know it. I barked and she ran into the woods. Another really fun thing to do at the park is to lay in the creek and let the cool water run through your fur. It is like a massage after a long walk. I almost pulled my mom into the water and she wasn't too happy about that...then everyone laughed. Angus doesn't like when I splash around him, because he isn't too sure of the water. I can't wait to go tomorrow!!
Spring is Here!March 31st 2005 1:22 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Well, the cold, white stuff that crunches on the ground is finally gone. We celebrated something called "Easter" and my cousin, Bodi, and I got to play out in the warm sun. I love when I get to romp around in the yard and wrestle with other dog friends. Now, we get to go to the dog park and see all of our buddies from last year. I can't wait. Here's to Spring!
It's Finally Over!March 8th 2005 6:37 pm[ Leave A Comment ] It is really hard being a big girl. Today was the last day that I have to wear my less than stylish, blue jean diaper with the red ruffle. How embarrassing to go out in the neighborhood looking like a fashion nightmare. My mom and dad are a little less anxious about my playmate, Angus, being around me. I think it has something to do with the diaper...maybe he really liked the way it accentuated my tail. Who knows! At least we aren't talking about me being "in heat" anymore. It's winter in Pittsburgh...who could be in heat? My family is a little crazy. It's time for me to get back to my evening nap by the couch.
Becoming a Big GirlFebruary 27th 2005 6:13 am[ Leave A Comment ] Something "funny" has been going on with me lately. I can't quite figure out why I haven't been doing the fun stuff that I was doing last week. All of a sudden I am not allowed to sleep in the same room as my best friend, Angus and I have to wear this hideous blue jean diaper with a little red ruffle. Let me tell you that it is not at the height of dog fashion. My mom and dad keep telling me that I am "in heat"...whatever that means. All that I know is that I can't go to visit my pal Murphy and I haven't been to the dog park in two weeks! The only trip that I got to take was to the vet to see Dr. George so that he could reassure my parents that I was indeed "in heat". I've been hearing that this happens to all little girls when they grow up, but I still don't like it.
