Playing with all the toys

Favorite Toy:
Lily's stuffed frog

Favorite Food:

Favorite Walk:
All around the backyard - she patrols the fence line at least once an hour!

Best Tricks:
Climbing - everything - the couch, chairs, bed, me

Arrival Story:
Rosie was advertised on one of the local adoption agency's Facebook page. Her owner at the time was moving to Florida, and couldn't take her dogs with her. She had rescued Rosie 3 years ago when her owners abondoned her - they just moved away and left Rosie in the house! I wasn't looking for another dog after just losing Twiggy, but when I saw her precious face I knew she had to come live with us. Rosie is so helping to heal my broken heart and has fit right in as though she has been with us all along.

Rosie loves her big sisters, Daisy and Lily. She can be found napping next to Daisy and loves playing keep away with Lily. Coco, on the other hand, has some adjusting to do. But, Rosie can hold her own, so Coco will come around eventually.

So, we wake up early this morning, but mom is moving REAL slow. We finally get her up and in the kitchen so she can feed us Chigirls, she makes her coffee before she feeds us! Really, Mom? She finally feeds us, puts our food down for us and not one word has been said about moi's woofday :( Even when the treats were passed out after we ate, not one word. Hmphf!

Then, we go back and lay on the bed and mom goes back to sleep! WHAT!! Eventually she gets up and gets dressed for work and still no Happy Woofday, Rosie Girl!! HMPHF!!

So, I said 'I'm going to have to jog her memory. Mom is old' I went out in the yard and found the stinkiest pile of poo I could find and made sure I got good and covered. Then I went back inside to show her my handiwork, and my wonderful new woofday odor - and she FREAKED! She snatched me up, put me in the sink and bathed me with peppermint soap - eeeewwww!

So, needless to say, my woofday is not starting off as I would have like. However, I think mom finally remembered what day it is and she'll make it up to me tonight. I'm thinking salmon patties!! And, after the way I was treated this morning, there better be a new toy somewhere in my bed tonight - I'm just saying.

Bye, all!! Love, Rosie Girl

Dear Diary,

I can't believe it's been a whole year since I came to live with mom and the Chiwawa Sisterhood! I have had so much fun - and a few times that mom says turned her hair grey, BOL! I love it here - I lay right by mom's side when we go to sleep at night. She says she had a dream after the Princess died that someone was sleeping right in my spot - it was me, Mom, it was me!

Lily and I have so much fun chasing squirrels and lizards. And, I can give that big dog next door a run for his money when we run up and down the fence line. Mom calls me a little goat because I climb on top of the sofa, then sit on her shoulder! And, I've got Granny and Pops eating out of my hand because I put my back feet on their shoes and stand there making sure they don't go anywhere - I am just the cutest!!

Daisy and I are still buds - most of the time. I think Daisy gets a little jealous when mom is loving on me cause she comes and puts her butt in my face.

And, with the cold winter we had this year, me and Coco stayed under the covers lots! Coco is like a little space heater - she might be my size, but she's warm!

Mom was going to fix me a special meal tonight for my gotcha day celebration but I woke up not eating again. I get so scared when bad weather comes through it messes up my stomach. Mom says she wishes she knew what scared me so much to make me that way. And, not only does my stomach get messed up, but I have to climb on top of mom's head. She says she doesn't know why I would feel safe up there, but I do - a little. She's tried teaching me to chew a bone like Daisy does, she's tried putting me in my kennel, she's tried holding me - nothing works. So off to Dr. Ashley we went and Dr. Ashley says I have colitis. Now I have to take this medicine and mom gives these pills to calm me down when a thunderstorm comes. I still get scared, but it helps my stomach not get messed up and I can eat. Except, mom didn't know we were going to have bad weather this time and didn't give me my meds :( So, she says she'll save the celebrationn dinner until I can eat. I think I'm getting salmon - yummy!

So, you're up to date, dogs. I'm looking forward to many more years here with mom and my fursisters.

Rosie Girl

Hello, All

Hi, I'm Rosie. I am the newest member of the Chiwawa Sisterhood. Mom adopted me on April 7 - a whole month ago! My how time flies - she says it's as if I've been here forever. That's like 5 minutes in dog time, right Mom? Anyway, this is my third home and mom says it will be my last. Thank Dog!

I started out my life in Florida, living with two girls. Let's just say it was not an ideal situation for me, and leave it at that. One day the girls left and didn't come home. The lady next door heard me barking and found a way to get in my house and rescue me. She took me in and named me Lola. I lived with her in Florida, then she moved to Louisiana with me and two other big dogs. The lady had to move back to Florida, but she couldn't bring us dogs, so she advertised me on a rescue's Facebook page. Mom saw me and knew immediately that she had to give me a home. See, Mom lost a special girl in January, and had a big hole in her heart that just wouldn't heal. So, she called the lady and made arrangements to meet me that evening. Mom came to the house I was living in and brought Daisy to meet me. She says the minute she held me she knew I was going to fit in fine in the Chiwawa Sisterhood. So, I went home with mom and Daisy, and met Lily and Coco when we got to their house. Daisy and Lily and I hit it off fine - I would snuggle up with Daisy and Lily and I had so much fun playing chase and keep away with the toys. And, talk about toys! Oh my dog - there's a whole basket full of Chi-sized toys! I am having so much fun with those and have strewn them throughout the house so I am never without a toy, BOL!!

Mom thought since I was so small, and looked a little like The Princess, that I would be like The Princess. Hah! Imagine mom's surprise the first Saturday when I walked up to her with a squiggly lizard in my mouth! And, then two weeks later mom was sitting on the patio listening to the Tigers play and a squirrel went running across the back yard - and I was a foot behind him! I ALMOST got him, too, but he ran up the tree. Lily says they cheat and do that a lot. Then, that Sunday mom was cleaning out an old garden that originally had elephant ears and a crape myrtle in it. She moved the garden to the front yard a couple of years ago because they give Lily the itchies, but there were a few roots left. Mom's building a deck over that part of the yard, so she wanted it all clean. As she pulled out the roots she threw them over her shoulder into a big pile that she said she was going to clean up when she was done. Can you see where this is going, dogs? I started chewing on one of the roots, and started coughing. Mom turned around and saw what I was doing, thought I was chewing a crape myrtle root and told me to leave it. I did and went over to the other side of the yard while mom worked. A while later, mom did a Chigirl check and started calling our names to see where we were. When she called my name, I didn't come so she started looking for me. She found me chasing and catching another lizard and went back to work (mom doesn't like lizards - I learned that fast :) ) Later that day as she was cleaning everything up, she noticed the area where I was coughing earlier in the day and saw an elephant ear root chewed up. That's when she realized it wasn't a crape myrtle root I was chewing! She got online to see what happens with puppy dogs chew elephant ear roots and it said it would cause kidney failure. The whole time mom was online, I was playing with Pinky, my elephant toy! So, mom called the LSU Vet School, they said bring me in and they would give me charcoal and keep me overnight on fluids to see if they could stop the kidney failure. Mom loaded me up in the car and we drove a long way. When we got to the school, the nice lady there said they looked online and found another site that said it could be a GI irritant, too, so they would call Poison Control and find out for sure. Thank dog, it was just a GI irritant and I got meds, had to take Pepcid for a week and I got to go home with mom that night. I never had any problems - just didn't like taking the meds. Mom says she got excellent training with The Princess on how to give 'reluctant' pups their meds and she didn't miss a beat, dogs!

So, you're up to date on my first month in my forever home. Mom says I have so healed her broken heart. Sometimes she says she wishes I just sat on a pillow, but I don't think she means it. She calls me Rascally Rosie a lot, but most times it's Rosie Girl. We have so much fun outside in the yard and I am all over the place. When I do sit down I climb up mom and sit on her shoulder! That's so I can give her kisses whenever I want!

I'll keep you updated on my new home and my adventures, pups! cThis is Rosie, signing off....
