if was a beautiful day in the city...my momma's cough seemed to have gone away today...we started off leaving the house late...thank god, momma's friend waited for us to give us a lift to the start line...oops! i seemed to have pooped in her car, momma cleaned it up as always...zoom zoom zoom we go, we made it to the start line just 15 mins before the race began...i hate the wait, what are we waiting for, let's go! then we are off! those darn flying tortillas again! was there a sale?! just like last year, i wanted to be speedy but momma kept holding back...when we got to the top of the hill, momma finally got a second wind & let me move faster...i hear people rooting for me! "go doggie go!" more people talking pictures of me...we see our friend by the park watching us and others in the race...it was only 9:10am...pretty good time so far! my momma's toes were numb and her feet were on fire but she kept going keeping up with me...she tells people that i set the pace of our race...which i guess is true...i got a 2nd set of mardi gras beads from a naked man this time...deep in the park, i know we are closer to the finish when i feel the cold breeze from the ocean nearby, that felt good...there even was a doggie watering hole alongside the race route, i like that! yea, finally i see the finish line...hurry up momma, let's go! she didn't have the energy to sprint but she kept moving...oh my gosh, our time was 2 hours and 13 mins! 23 mins faster than last year! we drank some water and took some pictures before we headed to the polo field for some yum yums...no hotdogs this time, momma paid $7 fr an angus burger for me...yum! we then sat and walked to the car, where we took a nap before heading home...hmmm, i think if momma let me go go go, then we would make it under 2 hours time! i better tell momma to train for next year's race! as for me, i am ready!

again, we walked the streets of san francisco...i was a little nervous...don't care for all this standing around waiting...people tossing tortillas in the air again...this time the ground was wet so we had to walk cautious over the wet tortillas all over the streets...i wanted to walk faster this time but momma kept holding me back..."telling me to slow down...heel" these people were walking too slow...had to weave through the crowd...a couple of times, my cart flipped over...i guess i was "speeding"...and momma had to assist me then i got started again...momma had to walk briskly, no casual walking like the last time...i heard people rooting "go dog go!" i was pretty happy when we reached the park area...so green, so pretty...then the sea breeze...the finish line was near...had a big water break before heading to the footstock event...those organizers...they must think it's funny to make us walk another 2 miles to get there...anyway, momma was prepared this time and treated me to a snack...she bought me a large hotdog...and i manage to get some freebies from the cook himself..."another hotdog and a hamburger patty" ...thanks chef! yum-yum, it 's all good! i laid on the grass on the hill before we headed towards our car on the other side of the park...this time closer...what a brillant day! saw some faces we met earlier in the race...we even were faster than them...little did we know we did better than last year...2005 results were 3 hrs 19 mins...THIS YEAR, time was 2 hrs 36mins...wow-wee!!!

sunday, may 15, 2005 - my mama and i went into san francisco to participate in this year's bay to breakers...we got up pretty early for a sunday...after we parked by the ocean, a friend of ours picked up us and gave us a ride to the start line (way on the other side of the city, downtown)...so many people there...saw some other wheeled objects different from mine...they did not have dogs in them...they had little kids and babies in them...it was like a party...people were tossing tortillas in the air...i tried to eat one but my mama told me not to.

shortly after 8am, the crowd started moving and we were moving along with them...mama was a little nervous until she saw a few other doggies there...

there was a pope mobile in the race...some naked people...guys dressed like elvis...white guys dressed like the harlan globetrotters...lots and lots of people dressed in costumes...

when we were going up the hayes street hill, some people started to slow down so mama and i had to go around and pass them...some naked lady gave some mardi gras beads as a gift...i wore them for the rest of the race...people were so kind...there were some that rooted for me, some took pictures of me and people talking to my mom asking what happened to my back legs...we took advantage of all the water checks on the route and kept moving...some kids at the race came up and petted me...that was nice.

i got excited when we entered into golden gate park...lots of green!

as we approached ocean beach and it was a little misty and foggy which was nice...we were almost there at the finished line...we both made it! it took 3 hours and 19 mins...this was a 7.5 mile race across the city, both a first for mama and me...when we walked back to our car...mama helped me into the back area...gave me some water and some doggie cookies...both her and i took a nap in cargo area before we headed home...

oh yeah, when at the end of the race, we got our picture taken at the end of the race....that night, i slept well with my beads around my neck.
