Austin came into my life exactly 6 months after the loss of my first rescue dog Sugar. I was searching petfinder.com for a dog (not for myself) for a friend, who wanted a dog like my previous dog. At this point in time, I did not think I was ready (ever) to have another dog in my life, because I was still grieving the loss of Sugar. One Saturday afternoon, I saw his bio on petfinder and noticed an error in his identification as to the breed, so I called the rescue and left a message for them telling them what his breed was. The next morning I received a phone call from the founder of the rescue, thanking me for my observations and then she asked me my history with dogs. Well after I told her my story and the reason I was looking for a dog for a friend. You see, Austin resembles my previous dog (very rare). I told her that I wanted to meet with Austin, whom had been found abandoned with his mother in an apartment building in Toronto, to see if he would be suitable for my friends lifestyle. But somehow things got turned around, this rescuer became adament that Austin was to be my dog! I protested! She asked me to show up at her place a couple days later with a harness, leash, travelling crate and a winter coat. When I asked why, she said If this goes as well as I think it will, you are going home with Austin. Again, I protested and informed her I had no intentions of keeping this dog for myself that I was merely a go between for a friend with little experience. Needless to say, I went to see Austin. This dog pushed his way into my life the second I walked through the door. Barging through several other bigger dogs to get to me. When I had taken a seat in the living room, all the dogs surrounded me as to say "pick me" but not Austin, he leapt up onto the couch, placed himself in my lap and rested his tiny head against my breast with big brown eyes looking up at me, that said "I'm yours", "let's go"! This story has been documented by his foster mom "Austin Powers, International Dog of Mystery has found his Mojo!"
