Me and Momma had another adventurous day, pups!
When Momma came home from school, she let me outside to go peeps. I came back in, and jumped up on my couch to look out the window. I started to growl my "someone's in my yard" growl. You know that growl, pups. I'm sure you all have your own version of it! Anywoof, the Ho Ho tree kind of blocks the view out my window, but Momma could have sworn she saw a brown, black, and white thing streak past it.
"Uh oh, Fizz. I think our beagle friend is back again!"
For those pups not in the know (or for those that need a refresher), me and Momma found a beagle pup a few winters ago in our yard and Momma had to call animal control to come get him cause he didn't have tags on. Then we saw our neighbor across the street dragging him into their house a few weeks later (even though we knew it wasn't their beagle!)
So Momma opened the door, and there he was. Cute as could be, just chilling on the sidewalk. As soon as he saw us, he started hopping along in the yard! Momma kinda groaned cause she just got home and she needed to go potty, but she put her shoes back on and opened the door. By this time, pups, I was barking like a MANIAC! Get off my lawn!!! Get away from my fence! That's MY grass you're peepsing on!!!
Momma picked up my outside chain and walked over to that pup. He may be bigger now, pals, but he was just as wild as he was a few years ago. Momma kept calling him over, and he'd come real close and then run run RUN like the wind away from her! Sometimes even into the STREET! Momma said that at least this time he had his tags on, so she knew if she could just catch him he would be returned home safely!
She called out to Daddy and said "Get me some treats!" Except, you know, technically I don't HAVE treats, just my food. She shook the treat jar at him and he came running over. She was able to hook him up to my chain! HOORAY! Momma caught the bad puppy! Of course, this whole time I was barking like a madman. Daddy shut the front door, but I KNEW he was still there! Momma gave him a piece of my kibble (THAT'S MINE!) and would you believe it? He wouldn't eat it!!! I heard Momma say "Sorry, pup, it's all I got." No, Momma, it's all *I* got, so give it back!!!!!
Momma checked his tag, and we now know that our beagle pal's name is Sparky. Momma said "It's very nice to meet you, Sparky, but you REALLY need to learn to stay HOME!" She called the number on the back of the tag (there was no address) and no one answered. Crap. By this time Momma REALLY had to go potty, AND her head was starting to hurt from all my barking. Just asserting my alpha-ness, Momma.
She put Sparky on my leash (MY LEASH) and was GOING to take him down back and put him on the chain back there, hoping I'd stop barking. Sparky had other ideas, pups. He's a small dog, but Momma said he dragged her across the yard and into my neighbor's yard. She said "George, do you know who's dog this is??? His name is Sparky!" See, George was outside playing with his grandson, and Sparky must have wanted to see them real bad. Well, it turns out George DID know who Sparky belonged to, cause sometimes when he takes his grandson on a walk, Sparky is outside and they all play together!
Can you believe Sparky only lives about 5 houses down from us?! Momma started walking in the direction of his house, but there were no cars outside (we're one of the few houses on this street that has a driveway). Momma didn't know what to do cause she REALLY had to potty by this time, and she was scared to bring him inside cause she didn't want us to fight. Plus she didn't know if he had fleas or anything. She says you just never know.
Sparky TOOK off down the road with poor Momma being dragged behind him. She says she thought *I* pulled on leash!!! Now she knows what pulling REALLY means! He stopped in a neighbor's yard and started sniffing, and she says a car pulled up across the street from Sparky's house (I was still inside barking like crazy). She didn't know if the man who got out of the car was Sparky's person or not, and he was so busy sniffing under a bush that she couldn't pull him out. The man was too far away for her to call out to him, even though she has a big mouth, so she picked up Sparky and started running down the road!!
"EXCUSE ME!" she shouted as she ran down the street. "Is this your dog?" Well, it wasn't, but he DID know Sparky's owner. He said the car wasn't outside so he didn't know where the owner was, but he offered to hold on to Sparky until his person came home. Momma was super relieved cause she SO had to peeps. She pointed out our house to the nice neighbor man and just asked that someone return my leash (MY LEASH!)
Momma came back in the house and SHE STUNK LIKE SPARKY!! That's MY Momma, Sparky. MY Momma, MY house, MY yard. Momma ran up to the potty, and as soon as she was done, the doorbell rang. BARK ALERT. She ran down to the door, and there was Sparky's owner with a little girl and MY LEASH. BARK BARK BARK!! Momma pushed me out of the way and stepped out on the porch. Sparky's Daddy thanked Momma for finding his pup. So did the little girl. See, Sparky's dad hooked him up to his outside chain and went back inside cause the phone rang. As soon as he realized Sparky was gone, he got in the car and was driving around looking for him. He just never turned down towards OUR end of the street, cause he would have seen Sparky hooked up outside our house! He was driving down our way when he saw nice neighbor man holding Sparky!
Momma showed Sparky's Daddy which ring he should hook Sparky up to, since she noticed the rings to his tags was all messed up. He said he never realized he should use the smaller, thicker ring, and that he hopes Sparky won't come visiting again anytime soon.
Momma says no more adventures, please. She's good for a while. Me too. I've been woofing to go out all night to remark my yard.
MY yard, Sparky. MINE. You have your own. Stay in it.

Your Momma is very kind for helping Sparky, but you are absolutely right, each pup in their own place!
That was really nice of your momma to help Sparky find his way back home. Let's hope his people learn how to keep him in his own yard and so he leave YOUR yard, leash, kibble and momma alone.
Good job, Momma, gettin' Sparky home safely!
Thanks you Momma! Glad that Sparky's adventure had a good ending thanks to you!
Sorry, Fizzy, she did have to say that...but I would have woofed as loud or even louder than you about all the same things, BOL!
I woulda been barking like crazy bout all that stuffs too.
What a great barkfest! Woo Hoo!
Did your Momma ever get to the bathroom? Bol!
*Zoe whispers: let's hope Sparky comes by for another visit sometime. Don't tell your Momma I said that.*
I'm not sure how I would have handled the situation. I happen to enjoy doggy vistors, and some of them are my pals. I seldom get to see them though. If your Mommy thinks a beagle can pull, she should try a husky. Mommy can't handle either one of us anymore. When I was a puppy, she once hooked me to a shed so that she could clean the garage. It didn't work because I wanted to go and visit a neighbor dog, and I took the shed with me. We huskies are all muscle! I'm a good dog though because I have never tried to run off even when I have the chance. I can't say the same for Angel Zoom Smokey!
BOL, Zoe! I wuz gonna ask da same quesshun! Well, did yur Momma ged tu go poddy?? BOL
