OMD, pups, the Steelers (or Stillers, as the locals pronounce it) are in ANOTHER Super Bowl!! I got to watch all the action of tonight's game at my Grammy and Pap Pap's house. I sat with Pap Pap the WHOLE TIME cause he was gettin nervous that they were gonna lose, so I made him feel better. And I get to go back for the Super Bowl!!

I still never did figure out what a Steeler is. Momma says it has something to do with the big steel industry that was in Pittsburgh a bajillion years. Whatever. As long as they play with the footballs, I get to go to Grammy's house!!!

Hello Fizzy, I am glad you had good time with Pap Pap :) Where I live, English soccer is more popular than football.

I don't know about all that steelering stuff. When I try to take my momma's food she accuses me of steeling it and it doesn't sound like a good thing. Sounds like you had a nice time with your pap pap though!

BOL!
I had to come and see what the Stillers was about!
OH!
Football!

Go team!

A Yinzer is someone from Pittsburg who speaks the peculiar type of 'English' local to the city, due to its cultural heritage, I think...a sort of dialect, which has become the moniker for the residents, too.
Yes? BOL!

Woofs!

BOL BOL BOL!! OMD you pups are cracking me and Momma up!! Yes, MJF, that's what a Yinzer is!! Momma's a Yinzer BIG TIME! She says hoagie for a sub sandwich, gumband for rubber band, buggy for shopping cart...the list goes on and on! We say "wersh" for "wash" and "saaath" for south...it's a weirdo accent and the best way to understand it is to hear it! Oh, and we say "yinz" for "you guys" which is where Yinzer came from! You know, like "Are yinz gonna go to the Saaath Side to watch the Stiller game?" BOL!! And I bet MJF and Growlmy are just so smart they didn't NEED to Google that!!

Googly-oogly-boogly!
BOL!

Zaidie, Growlmy gets looks, too, when she says things like waiting in line at the bank or the post office 'for the next wicket'...nobody here knows what she means...(window)...and she still has trouble with Z (ZED vs ZEE), Portage is a nearby city...guess how she used to say that one! (Think French...)And there are more! She still says j
'jus' (In Dutch, not French) for gravy, Melk for milk...and so on...so there are even now, after living here for almost 24 years, still traces of my heritage and knowledge of other languages.
I feel for the Yinzers in Pittsburg!

But Growlmy doesn't have to reveal all of her secrets, does she? BOL!

My mama say funny things too an she was borned here in Michigan but her mama were from Germany. She talk 'bout a "humpelmann" (not sure of a spelling but it's kinda like a jumpin jack--pull a string an da arms an legs move). Mama don' know its "odd" til she say sumpin an uvver peeples looks at her funny.

No more bad-talking us southerners, then! BOL!! One of my mom's cuzzins' favorite words/expressions is "YAWWN-to." It means You Want To. And "AH-ight." Means All Right. And ya know da plural of Y'all is All Y'all. In Kentucky, a pack of crackers is called a pack of Nabs (maybe in udder places it's called dis, too). And in Kentucky, they commonly say they will "pack" something, meaning "carry" it. Mommy learned this while in college there.
