"find it" . The only thing she learned at puppy school!!!
We were not looking for a dog at that time. I went to my vet to get cat food and on their counter was a picture of a 7 week old puppy. CUTE! I wanted to see her in person so they brought her out and put the two of us in a room...to get to know each other. She told me she had a hip injury; but I took her anyway. At night watching tv, she would get up and sleep on me. But at 7:30 p.m. she would get down and go to "her" bed to sleep until she was big enough to go to her "new" bed (ours!). So she began sleeping with us. I changed vets and my new vet is excellent and cheaper. The first time he examined Vida, he took xrays and sent her info to 5 different canine radiologists in the U.S. The radiologist at Perdue contacted him. She had a right hip that had been broken in two place. When the true owner of her (also had her mom and Vida's siblings) came home from work one night, Vida's right back leg was stuck in the pen (her siblings were in there with her). Because of that, her hip was broken and her chest filled with fluid. He took her to the vet but with all the puppies, he did not have the money to have her treated and told them to put her down. The vet did not, they fixed her and adopted her out to me later. (hip was not fixed though). Later in her life she will have to have the ball of her hip taken out but the vet assured me that she will be just fine. Vida is a whiner because of her situation when she was in the cage. She is still a whiner and will always be one. She whines so loud the neighbors can hear her even when she is in the house. I love her for it, it makes her Vida!!
On May 26, 2010, Vida was diagnosed with having an extreme fungus infection in her. It was in her spleen, spine and lymph glands. Even though she was on the highest dose of antifungal meds, I had to put her to sleep on August 25, 2010. Koma and I miss her every day.
We got Vida a baby brother, Koma Joe, who is a shepherd/malamute mix on June 28, 2009 (exactly a year earlier we got Vida). Koma Joe was 7 weeks old when we got him, the same age Vida was when we got her. For more info on Koma Joe, please see his Dogster information.
