Arrival Story:
We have been talking for awhile about getting Ayla a doggy friend. We seached and searched. Finally I got a hold of an animal shelter and told them what I was looking for. The next day she e-mailed me to tell me they were bringing in a dog that the owner had to surrender. She only had on picture of him but I fell in love with him. By the next Saturday we were bringing him home. One thing that amazed us is that he and Ayla look so much alike. That may have been why I choose him out of all the other possible dogs to adopt.

My mom calls me a cat-dog just because I like to sit on the back of the couch like it is a perch. And after I go potty I have to kick dirt and grass on it. Doesn't all dogs do this?

Well I was living with my old owner and a couple of pugs. But she had to get rid of me because she couldn't afford all of us. She knew I was just so darn cute and that someone would adopt me. Well I guess my new mom had been looking for another doggy for my new big sister Ayla and she contacted a shelter and told them she wanted a young dog or puppy preferred coonhound (that is the kind of dog Ayla is) or something similar. Also that she wanted a boy, after all Ayla is a girl. She only had to wait one day and the nice lady at the shelter told her that I was being picked up that very day and wanted to know if she was interested. The shelter lady sent her a picture of me, she said the picture did not do me justist. Well mommy said if I was any cuter then the picture then I was definetly the one for her. That was a Tuesday and on Saturday they came down with Ayla to meet me. I was so nervous because everything was so different that when I saw my new mommy and daddy I peed on the floor. That was OK the shelter lady said it happens all the time.

SO anyway we went outside for a walk and that is where I met Ayla for the first time. She was and still is SO BIG. She is about twice my size. She came near me and I snipped at her. She didn't like it so she stayed away from me. Then the good news...they decided to take me home.

The first couple of weeks were fun. Ayla didn't much like me. She kept snipping at me especially when mommy and daddy was giving me attention.

Now it has been one month and 11 days since I came to my new home and IT IS WONDERFUL!! Ayla is a great big sister. She only gets after me a little bit, but aren't all big sisters like that? We even get along with one another when we go to bed. We both sleep on daddy's side of the bed. If I sleep up by mommy's head then she sleeps by her feet or the other way around. The bed gets crowded when daddy comes to bed, but only for a little while because then mommy has to get up to go to work. We then get to sleep on her side of the bed. It is OK, but by the time she leaves the sun is up and I want to be outside.

That is all for now. I have to go outside. I get to go outside with Ayla now because mommy and daddy put up a fence. I only like it a little bit because I want to get out and chase the neighbor dogs. More later RUFF!!
