Gimp does not install viruses or any other software on the machine, it only installs the Gimp program.

Gimp is located at gimp.ORG not gimp.COM -- if you went someplace else to download the file you could have downloaded just about anything masquerading as gimp, including a virus, trojan or malware.

It's more probable that you picked up those things elsewhere around the same time you downloaded Gimp.

Always do virus scans of ANY .exe or .zip files you download before you run them. Make sure your anti-virus software is kept up to date, and make sure any anti-spyware programs (such as Spybot S&D) are also kept up to date. It's not about your computer being sensitive it's about keeping the computer clean and only installing things that have been scanned.

It's hard to tell you how to get rid of the virus because you don't seem to know what the name of the virus is. Google some symptoms your machine is showing to try and find out exactly what it is so you can find out how to remove.

I would download "hijack this" to find out exactly what is running on your computer and to be able to go into your bios and remove it by hand if need be. Hijack this will tell you exactly where each file is located and you can search for the individual file and remove it. There's no reason it should'n't be able to be removed thru your add/remove program options. Make sure you shut off your back ups before removing a virus or it will just reimbed and resurface thru backup. Lastly there is a great program put out by a company called moosoft. It's called "the Cleaner" and you can get a free download for 30 days. It really helped me at a rough time with a virus.
