well, i know that most dogs should get a bath once a month. so you shouldnt have to bathe him/her alot.

it depends . if you take him let say to the beach and he gets in after just give him the rinse from them salt. otherwise it is up to you. but it is better not to over do it. My puppy has this terrible "habit" she loves to throw herself into donkey shit or anything smelly. Now I watch her more and do not let her but you know when they are naugthy they just do it in the blink of an eye. When walking in open fields or park give him good brush.
I suppose at this age you do not go out as he must first do her first 2 shots and then you can not bath for 10 days at least. But yes I would agree once a month is o.k.
Feed a decent chow and as little else as possible, seldom if ever bathe the dog,
and brush it daily with a soft bristled brush.
I have my puppies out in public places all the time, including restaurants and grocery stores, plus they are checked monthly by somebody responsible to see to it that I am giving it good care. Nobody ever said it needed a bath.
There is absolutely no reason you cannot bathe a dog until 10 days after they have their vaccinations. A good rule of thumb with dogs who have longer, silker hair like a maltese is once every two to three weeks with good mild, conditioning shampoo. Remember, make sure she is completely brushed out and matt free before bathing otherwise those matts will become like felt and be impossible to get out.

It all depends on how dirty your dogs gets. I have a dog I give a bath every week and a dog I give a bath once a month. But with a shitzu/ maltese you should brush it every couple of days to keep it from matting up. And to the person who said they never bathe their dog...Do you not take a bath everyday? or at least every other day? Your dog needs a bath as well brushing only loosens up dirt it does not clean your dog or keep your dog clean.

You shouldn't bathe to often because it will dry out their skin. My vet recommends once every three to four weeks for me but, if we get super dirty in between Mom gives us a bath even though we really don't want one! :(
