Any breed can be good with other animals and any breed that's known to be good with other animals can be not so good around other animals. I thought of the Rottweiler as soon as I read your post. Rottweilers can be great with other animals (cats, chickens, dogs) if they've been properly trained and socialized. They are usually easy to train and highly intelligent. Rottweilers are short haired dogs. They can live both inside and outside. They are protective of their family. They are loyal, courageous, brave, loving dogs. I HIGHLY recommend to research the Rottweiler, buy a couple books on the Rottweiler and thoroughly educate yourself on this breed before getting one.

A bit energetic, but probably a Lab or Lab mix.

Okay here are some breeds fitting the description:
-pitt bull
-hound
-rottie
-dobie
-dane
-lab
and last of all, a mutt from the shelter, not all good dogs are purebred. Any dog can be good with other animals, if they are properly introduced and socialized. PLEASE make sure to educate yourself on the breed you choose. We don't want another dog in the shelter due to an uneducated owner. And last of all, pawmail me with the one you choose, or if you want other suggestions, or just to talk:)
Hope this helped, best regards:D
