PARVO!!!

My little chihuahua's (2 of them) just got over parvo. Now the little girl seems to be back to her bouncy self but is still down a pound and a half from 4.4 pounds to 3.0 pounds. When she eats she vomits a thick syliva base with her undigested food. I can't afford another visit to see if this is normal so I am looking for help on her. She also gulps her food and then vomits it in about 2 minutes and starts again.

I'm sorry, but this is one thing that you really should ask her vet on.
Ask for donations if you need to, go to a vet with lower prices, get a payment plan...just make sure she gets what she needs. For your dog's sake, please. If nothing else, please at least call him for advice.

I can fully understand money problems, living in a family who is below the poverty level in the USA.
As dog owners, we have the responsibility to make sure that our dogs have all of their needs taken care of. And if those needs can't be taken care of, we honestly shouldn't have the dogs. Plus, it's against the law to withhold vet care.

I would start by calling your vet. If you've already had her in for treatment with the vet, it's reasonable to answer your questions over the phone which won't involve an office charge.

It's considered a follow up question and most good, decent vets will get back to you on a question like this or have a vet tech call you back with the answers.

Failing that....I agree that a vet visit, if necessary rather than a call, is in order. Parvo is deadly and if you have to beg and borrow, do so to get her a follow up visit if that phone call doesn't work.

As the other posters have said, your vet is the place to go. However, the eating quickly, vomiting, and then eating again is not uncommon. You need to find a way to slow her down when she is eating. There are special bowls you can buy. Or try only putting a small amount of food in her bowl at a time. She may also be concerned that your other dog will steal her food, so feed them in separate places.

I understand your financial issue, I think everyone can. I had a dog get prvo and my vet told us nothing could be done. We gave her Gatorade by force feeding it to her and she stayed hydrated during all the vomiting, she eventually started eating right again and she made it and grew to be a healthy old dog. She too was chihauhua. Good luck!!!
