my dam snaps at her stud. is it normal?

my female dog is always aware of my male dog which is also her stud and it usually leads to her aggression towards him. i already separated the two dogs but sometimes it is the female who approaches him, then she would suddenly snaps at him.. shes never been like that to the other dog in fact they are affectionate to each other. it happened just after she gave birth. is this just a normal reaction from a bitch who has just given birth? like due to her hormones and will return to normal?
