I am assuming that your concern is with the possibility of a GDV (not food intake) ...the procedure you are referring to is a gastropexy and is not something that should be done by anyone who is not experienced with them..there are internal medicine specialists at referral clinics who should be contacted in regard to this procedure. The costs will vary from doctor to doctor but it can run into the 1000s with surgery, anesthesia, recovery, meds etc. I doubt the insurance companies will cover this as it is a preventative measure..
hope this helps!

To cut down on the risk of bloat you can try feeding a raw diet instead of kibble (dog food) Kibble can expand in their stomach but a raw diet doesn't do that. My dog died of bloat and I now feed a raw diet. You can find alot of info online about Raw feeding and the incidence of bloat. I have german shepherds.

I am not a vet but I always thought stomach twisting was caused by over excitement and too much activity in large breeds. stapling in my opinion would be to reduce the intake on food given to your dog, (dieting) the stomach twists when your dog is jumping in the air and the stomach is torn apart from the intestines. big dogs need alot of food to get big so I would think that you would not want to limit its food. I have had 20 or more great danes, many of them are like Tigger-(winnie the pooh show) jumping straight up in the air repeatedly when they see you and thankfully none have twisted though danes are prone to. hope this helps.
