How long does false pregnancy last?
Sookie's breast are swollen so I took her to the vet and he said it was a false pregnacy but her heat was about 3 months ago so he said that was a little wierd.I asked when it would go away and he couldn't give me a time because of the timing of the false pregnancy so long after her heat so I guess what I want to know is if anyone had the same thing? And I am not going to get her spayed!!! And how long does it last?

My Basset Hound, Gracie, had 3 false pregnancies before I finally had her spayed. Each one occurred about 2 months after she went out of heat. They lasted about 2 weeks-a month each time. Her breasts will most likely begin producing milk and she may begin nesting and exhibiting other behaviors exhibited by pregnant dogs.

You're right to not spay her, because it probably wouldn't change a thing, because the pregnancy is false. If there was a recent birth in the family, it is probably shock because the humans have offspring and she doesn't. If you have bred her while she was in heat, she probably can't control her feelings. Molly had a false pregnancy and she was living in her nest until we told her she wasn't having babies. Try to show her that she is not having pups. She may grieve for a while, but she'll get over it quick.
