Feeding

My 7 month Maltese/Pekingese dog refuses to eat any food unless it's my very own food. I know I created this problem myself by offering her tidbits of the things I was eating, but now she refuses to eat any type of home-made food, high -quality dog food or anything except water and cat droppings. Aside from preventing her excursions to the litter box and NOT giving her my food what can I do? Every morning I put out one container of Cesar dog food and a bowl of fresh water and every day she refuses to eat it ( tho she drinks the water) after about 2 hours I take it away. Later in the early evening I offer her a fresh container with the same result. How long can she go without food?

I have seen puppies go for a couple of days without eating . And the puppy was not sick, just being bad. I cured this by hand feeding him good quality food, and after sometime got him to eat out of a bowl again. Dogs will not starve themselves on purpose unless something is wrong.

You could try some food rolls by Natural Balance. They are those sausage things you may have seen in the pet stores or Petco and dogs can’t resist them. We buy the Turkey but they come in a few flavors and they really help stimulate a dog’s appetite – and they are all natural and good for your dog too! Sometimes we sprinkle it over Zeus’s kibble if he’s being picky and he eats it every time. Good luck!
