aggression after being spayed

female 12yrs old just got spayed and wants to bite everyone even while they are petting her wound has done healed, also wants to bark and growl at other dogs already in house before surgery

why would you spayd a female dog at 12 id there a reason she needed to be. I am surprized a vet would given the age I am glad she did well I would of knowing it would not be good to have a old dog be put under. No judgement here just 12 is old to spayd

I agree, 12yo is WAY too old to have this done. Are you sure about how she's healing ? Sounds to me like the motion/patting is disturbing her internally, and that possible "pain" is causing irritability which lends her posture with others and animals. I think I'd have her check by the Vet again, she may have an infection.

12 years old is WAY TOO old to have your dog spayed. She could be in pain. Give her space, place her in her bed with a warm bed and give her a while to calm down and relax. Spaying and neutering suppose to be done at a young age, preferably when your dog is a puppy.
