We are glad they are here...

Unfortunately, we had to call on Tidewater Emergency Vet Clinic when Griffin became violently ill one evening. We were treated with the utmost respect and care that evening. Griffin had to stay overnight but the staff did not mind if we called periodically throughout the night to check on him. Sadly, the news was not good but they referred us to the best doctors who helped us make the best decisions for Griffin. When his time came in the middle of the night (much sooner than I expected) they were there to help our friendly fellow cross the bridge and end his suffering. We could not have asked for a more compassionate and competent staff. Yes, the fees are high but that is to be expected for quality care in the middle of the night. I hope we never have to go there, but it's good to know that quality care is available 24-7 when/if it's needed.

We like it :)

TEVC is an awesome place to have near you. The people there are very nice and very caring, and they definitely know what they are doing. However, there are a few things that we don't like about it.. For one, the wait is always long. Mom and my sister actually there pretty recently. And even though they were the ONLY ones there (it was about 1 in the morning), they had to wait about 3o minutes before anyone helped them (and she was bleeding on the floor the whole time). Also, we think that they are VERY over-priced. When Mom and my sister Gracie were there last night, all they needed to (and did) was cut some bandages off for her with a pair of scissors (they were too tight on her stitches), and they had to pay $114.00 :( So we think that was a little excessive. But even though those things bother us, it is definitely a great place to have when there is an emergency.

It's worth the wait

Unfortunately, we're more than familiar with this facility (we say "unfortunately" only because, well, it's an emergency facility and they knew Malaika by name), but if one MUST go to an emergency vet, this is The Place to go. The staff is just amazing, as are the vets. However, on a weekend or during a holiday (we spent last Christmas there), it can be a long wait before being seen. The animals are all triaged accordingly, and if your companion animal is stable, he or she will be bumped to the bottom of the list so that more critical cases can be seen first (that's just how it goes). But as our subject line states, it's worth the wait. Everyone who works there is just so compassionate and caring. One thing to note: They are preparing to completely revamp the facility to be even more state-of-the-art, so who knows how fabulous this place will become?
