This is a great vet clinic!

We've been going to Gloucester Veterinary Hospital with our two dogs and one of our cats since moving to Gloucester County in 2008, and overall, we have been very happy with them. The clinic does not do appointments except for surgery, so be prepared to spend some time waiting in the waiting area before you are seen. Things do move quickly, even during busy times, though, and waiting areas are separated - one for dogs and one for cats - to avoid problems. There is plenty of space to wait outside, too, and receptionists will come fetch you if you choose to wait outside. We've seen Dr. George and Dr. Clark at this clinic and have been very happy with them both. Dr. Clark joined the clinic more recently, and since the first time we saw him, he's the one we have been requesting for all of our visits. Dr. Clark understands that we prefer to handle our own dogs during exams and that we're capable of doing so. He is also very knowledgeable and wonderful with our dogs. We don't like Dr. Perkins at this clinic because she doesn't really know a lot about German Shepherds or Belgian Malinois, and we prefer to work with a doctor who is familiar and comfortable with these breeds. The staff at this clinic are all very nice and we've not had any issues with any of them, except Theresa (one of the receptionists). In that situation, I'd asked whether I could use the restroom and she said she could hold Abby behind the counter while I went, so I didn't have to take her. While I was in the restroom, Theresa saw fit to feed Abby a whole bunch of dog treats, which she pointed out to me when I came to fetch her. ("She was such a good girl and really enjoyed the treats!") I was upset because a) she didn't ask whether it was okay to give her treats, b) she didn't ask or know whether we were having a procedure done that required Abby to have an empty stomach, and c) Abby has allergies / sensitivities to chicken and grains and treats or food with those ingredients give her the runs. You'd think that the staff at a vet clinic, of all places, would know to ask owners whether it's okay to shovel a bunch of treats into a dog! Price-wise, they are the most reasonable vet clinic in the area.
