Dr. Ritchie is a WONDERFUL Vet!

In terms of logistics, Dr. Joan Ritchie is a single practitioner veterinarian whose clinic is located in the Cato Park area of State College (off of West College Avenue). There is a large parking lot directly in front of the office. And, financially, her fees are reasonable and compare favorably to other local vets. And now onto the thing that most pet owners care about more than logistics or convenience. I've had dogs for 15 years, and have worked with multiple vets in two different countries. So, I can honestly say with some experience that Dr. Ritchie is the best vet I have ever worked with! When Abby was a puppy, she had what felt like a deluge of puppy ailments, from worms to ear infections to pink eye to diarrhea. And then there were the more serious and unusual complaints... For instance, one time, Abby swallowed huge chunks of her Nylabone and vomited blood. And last, but certainly not least, at the age of two months, Abby was diagnosed with canine epilepsy and put on daily medication. All that to say that I have had plenty of canine medical ailments to deal with in the past year, and therefore a lot of opportunities to visit Dr. Ritchie's clinic. Throughout ALL of this, Dr. Ritchie was a wonderful resource. She was helpful and informative, friendly, supportive, and extremely personable. It was clear from the very beginning that both she and her entire staff really cared not only about the animals that came to see her, but about their owners as well. Dr. Ritchie was firm in her advice and opinions, but also willing to answer the multitude of questions I presented her with and very respectful of my wishes as per treatment options. Abby has only positive associations with going to the vet and very eagerly pulls me through the door each and every time. And I always know that I have a place to turn when my beloved furry companion gets sick or I have any questions as to her care.
