“Just off Hwy 26 near the Hillsboro stadium. A 3.75 acre park that bears the name of Hondo, a Hillsboro police Canine that lost his life in the line of duty. This park has a small dog and a mixed section as well as a "winter" section that is sand and gravel. The main areas are closed periodically during the winter to keep the turf in good condition. Water provided in each enclosure but you must bring your own bowl! To prevent the possible spread of... anything they do not allow bowls to be kept in the park”

Nice but not huge

We had high expectation considering this park was named tops in 2008. It was nice... but I think we've been to other parks that top this one.

Sand in the winter-use area

Just a word of caution about the sand - it's actually river sand which contains shells & shards thereof freshwater clams. These can slice in between the pads causing great pain, inflammation, infection & inconvenient treatment. Enter at your own risk as these aren't easily treated & may require risky surgery if not diagnosed & treated quickly.

hondo dog park

Great park with a nice gravel walkway so I can get my excercise too! Cherokee loves to run up and over the hill to the other side as well as straight across the level ground. There is a spigot with water for the doggies--which they use often. You need to bring a bowl to fill for your pet. The benches allow us humans a chance to rest while watching our furry kids playing with each other. I LOVE the security of a double gate!!
