Quail Corners Saved My Life!

After reading the review by Succotash, I had to give up a paw for Quail Corners too. I had became very ill for no apparent reason. For six years, I was fine - eating anything I wanted, and I was in great shape! The next day, I was throwing up and had bad diarrhea for days on end. Mom tried every home remedy in the book, but after a week, she took me to see the doctor. My usual doctor said I probably have an internal parasite and gave me medicine for that. I took my medicine for a week, but I didn't get better. only weaker by the day. I couldn't keep anything down, and diarrhea just wouldn't stop. After 3 weeks of various medicines for parasites that were never found, mom took me to Quail Corners. I had lost 20 lbs in just one month (25% of my body weight). I was so weak I couldn't even pick my head up off the floor. Mom was very distraught, but she did her best to stay calm so I wouldn't feel her stress. The doctor at Quail Corners took all the records from the last vet, and after reviewing what was done, decided to try something new. They drew some blood to check for proper liver, kidney and pancreas function. When the lab results came back, it became evident that my life was in danger. I was "leaking" protein out of my blood, which was changing the osmotic pressure in my GI tract. Because the pressure inside my GI tract was greater than the pressure outside of it, I was literally at risk for my insides exploding! The nice doctors at Quail Corners contacted the vet school to brainstorm with specialists about what could be causing this. We did tests for everything under the sun, including an ultrasound to look for GI tumors. The ultrasound was negative - if I had cancer, it was too small to see. Since every other test was also negative, there was no indication of organ failure. We proceeded with a diagnosis of IBS complicated by food allergies. A little prednisone and a hypoallergenic diet turned me around in about a week! Long story short(ened), I had mysteriously become allergic to every source of protein and carbohydrate. We discovered this by over a year of trying new foods, one at a time. Every single one caused an allergic reaction, with varying degrees of severity. Even prescription food would make me sick. Everything I put in my mouth, made me sick. Thank goodness, the nice folks at Purina One make a special food for me, so I can eat with no problems now. It was a long road before I was back up and running. If it hadn't been the quick thinking of the Quail Corner's doctors, I would have been pushing daisies by now. Thank you Quail Corners!

They saved my life!

My mom works for another vet, and she's great and I love her, but when those dogs who used to live next door almost killed me, there wasn't time to call Dr. G. We went to Quail Corners and they took great care of me -- even though it was 10:30 PM on a Sunday.

Our other neighbors called and said we were on the way, and when we got there Stephanie grabbed me from Daddy and took me straight back to Drs. Pejsa and Berry and they fixed me right up. I'm not even lame in my back leg and it "looked like hamburger" according to Mommy's friend Kelly.

Mom says that this ER is truly a lifesaver.
