“This is a real nice off leash dog park. It's a woodsy area with lots of hiking trails and then a large open area where all the dogs meet up and play, overal around 10acres. Its a good time, usually a good amount of dogs there and few with bad attitudes. Everyones welcome to come and paly.”

I'm sorry you had such a negitive experience. This is a great park to me. Great people, many new friends for my dogs, and an excellent hilly, woody, watery area for pets and people to interact and have a good time. Like all dog parks, sometimes a person comes in without understanding the basic rule of "you must be in control of your dog at all times!" 99.99% of the people who come here are great dog owned people!

Sadly a terrible experience

So, my husband and I just brought our Corgi here for the first time. He is extremely friendly and nice. We had been in the park for about 5 minutes, had met a good half dozen other dogs and owners and all was well and happy. Suddenly a Pitbull came tearing into the park. It was showing no civil behavior at all - no friendly approach, no play stance, no butt sniffing, just running wild in every sense of the word and the owner was showing so little interest in what the dog was doing or how it's behavior was, I couldn't tell for the life of me who the owner was or if they were even present. It could have been a totally stray dog for all we knew. We continued on, totally ignoring the Pitbull, but it came sprinting up out of nowhere from behind us, and jumped up on my husband throwing him off balance. It then did the same to me but nearly knocked me over, then it bit me. Yes, it bit me. I felt it's teeth and I had indentations on my hand. Had I not been wearing gloves (middle of winter), I have no doubt I would have been injured. I shouted out "Who's Pitbull is this?" A woman a good 15 yards away responded it was hers, to which I responded "your dog just bit me." To which she responded - no joke - "It's not biting, it's mouthing. It's a puppy." I have never heard a more defensive, rude, offensive tone from someone, and furthermore apparently I could have had a gaping wound for all this woman knew and she would have reacted the same. I would also like to point out if it's a pup, it was full grown. I have a dog. My husband has had WELL TRAINED hunting dogs growing up and his whole life. That was not mouthing. Our dog is a herding dog and it has a soft mouth. That Pit was not mouthing, and if that's how it's owner is letting it "mouth" then she has another thing coming. Not to mention that dog would never pass a test of being trained for off leash considering how it wasn't listening to darned thing she was screaming at it. This is bad owner. Period. I am fully prepared for this lady to try and deny the incident, and I say to you madam: I would gladly testify under oath - hell under penalty of death that this is the course of the incident. We turned around and immediately left. The Pit kept running around all over the place, including to us. What made me sad is that none of the other owners, as far as I could tell, gave two spits that someone had just been bitten. They all had seemed like nice people otherwise with good dogs, but what kind of way is that to react to someone shouting out "your dog just bit me?" I thank God that there was a very well behaved German Shepherd in the park who was, after this incident, routing that Pit and keeping it in line. I hope that was the Shepherd's owner's influence, as it would somewhat restore my faith in humanity. We are NEVER going to this park again.

Battle Creek Regional Park

I have only been here twice and I like the wooded area, reminds me I need to get up to the northern woods. Both times I visited, there weren't very many dogs so I felt free to explore. If it were closer to me (Mpls.) I would check it out more because I did like the trails and could of sworn I saw deer one time!
