“The fenced off-leash dog park is only open during regular park hours (dawn to dusk). All dogs must be legally licensed, vaccinated, and able to play nice with other dogs. This park is free. Rice Creek West Regional Trail runs through Locke County Park. There are nice walking trails for leash-on ventures outside of the fenced dog park. The ground within the fenced area has wood chips spread over the open space where the dogs play. About one third of the fenced area is wooded. There are two picnic tables in the dog park. Bring your own water containers; there is not a water fountain within the fenced portion of the dog park. Located in the City of Fridley, Locke County Park can be accessed from the University Avenue service road (which runs in front of Columbia Arena) just south of 73rd Avenue. The park's entrance road runs along the north side of Columbia Arena.”
Basic - funOnly been going 9 months but it has been a terrific growth experience for me, Nika. I have gotten to know how to truly interact with other dogs. I was shy at 1st, and my human very nervous. I learned how to have great play with others. Beyond the butt-sniffing. I got to know the diff between fighting and play fighting. Play fighting is a great aerobic activity - even tho I have no weight issues. I used to just run. When I run it\'s swell. 1.5 acres has a sweet perimeter. Still, loneliness of the long distance runner. Now I can\'t wait to play with others. Sometimes we all just decide to run. Great good time. Free park - are all in Anoka County (this was the 1st I hear), so my human likes that. A small woods in the park, so I like that. The spring is tough becuz the road is dismal. That said, my human has managed it. I won\'t leave him alone until he does. |
Off-Leash Dog Park Locke County ParkWe stopped here to have a "doggie" break from running errands. It was nice and clean, well kept. There were only a few dogs there but also the middle of the day during the middle of the week. I would like to explore the trails if we are ever in that neck of the woods again! |
