“The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, a private non-profit organization guided by the humane ethic, builds healthy relationships between people and animals. Each year thousands of animals pass through their doors. They provide a warm bed, nutritious food, veterinary care and a gentle touch for the lost, stray, unwanted and injured domestic and wild animals in our community.”
That was my home!I was a resident at PHS and I wasn't very happy at all. I didn't want anyone touching me & I guess you could say I was pretty aggressive towards everyone there. I didn't have a very promising future... But one experienced volunteer got permission to try to work with me. I didn't like him at all & tried to bite him all the time, but he was patient with me and eventually I kind of decided that he was OK. He started to take me out for walks & that was fun. During the walks I'd see other PHS volunteers & staff, and eventually I came to realize that humans weren't so bad. The volunteer fostered me in his home with his own dogs for a while, and PHS even got me specialized medical treatment when I needed it! Eventually they were able to find a permanent home for me, with a couple other little doggies in it, so now I'm living happily ever-after, all thanks to the Peninsula Humane Society! |
VERY Humane!I was a little puppy dumped off there with a very bad case of demodetic mange by people who didn't bother to get me treated for it, but the Peninsula Humane Society put the time, effort and money into getting me the treatment I needed! I was in a foster home with a PHS volunteer for almost 11 whole months, getting a special bath three times a week, until my condition cleared up enough fo rme to be adopted out into a great home! 1 pet found this review helpful |
