one of my favorites..

The entire family loves this Regional Park! We spend a lot of time there.. Sunol and WCC offers such a variety of different kind of vegetation and things to experience - anything from grassland, trees, creek, wildflowers, picnic areas, playgrounds, cattle, the most most most gorgeous view! You will have to get up on top either along the Inspiration Point paved trail - WC accessible, depending on the fitness level it is better to bring somebody along.. The other options are to walk the unpaved trails that go up the hill. There is an old sanatorium, more the leftovers of it, and it is a lovely place. The hikes a anywhere from easy to strenuous - best is to get a map off the internet or at the park entrance - www.ebparks.org There are no poop bags. At least not when I am around :o) The hikes are beautiful and you will always discover something new. It is nice to bike, hike, discover by horse.. Parking is a bit hidden, but once you know, you know. Once you leave the main trail you will barely meet others. Just once in a while. There are a bunch of cattle and make sure your dog is well trained and responds to your recall. There is this nice little creek which is accessible in several spots. I like to sit and meditate and the dogs goof around in the water. There are water fountains in different spots, but bring water anyways! Once you are up on the ridge it can get hot. Have fun and take your camera!!

Great park!

This park has a lot of great hiking trails. It's not a dog park per se in that it's not a bunch of dogs running around in a confined area together. Instead, you are expected to keep your dog under control at all times and carry a 6 foot leash with you at all times. Your dog can be off leash as long as it's under voice control. There are lots of trails to hike on, some are asphalt and flat, others are steeper and dirt. Some parts of the park have cows grazing, so you have to open and shut gates to keep them from getting out. Be careful of the cows! They don't like dogs and could kick your dog and injure them, so make sure your dog does not bother them. Also dont' walk between a mom cow and it's calf. Other than the cows, this is a great place to hike. It's not crowded, which is my favorite part about it. When we go there I usually only see about 2 other groups of people with dogs so you can really get away from it all here. I like to use the entrance on Rifle Range Road (or is it Rifle Ridge?)-- look at the map on the website and you'll see the various entrances. This is our favorite local place to hike!
