Excellent Vets!I've been going here since my dad found me wandering on the streets. In fact, I was boarded there for awhile. And then when Parker bit my ears, they stitched them up. So they've been really helpful to me. Woof! |
Good Vets and Good Prices!Mom has been going here for many years, and have found them to be good diagnostic vets. The original owner, Dr. Leslie Malo, is Chief of Staff, but his son, Dr. Mark Malo, now owns the business with Dr. Hess. All three are wonderful vets and they care. When Parker got a hot spot on July 4, Mom called the emergency after-hours vet, coz she didn't know what it was. She thought it was a burst abscess. Of course, they said to come in right away. But then Mom called Dr. Malo, who was on call. He returned her call immediately and told her she could wait until tomorrow, thus saving Mom lots of money. Their prices are good too. When Mom got Parker, she took him to Banfield because she had a coupon for a free visit. Well, they kept trying to sell her their wellness plans. Pul-leeze. She must have told them NO at least 5 times. It was very obvious that the vet was told to "Sell, sell, sell." And the vaccines and treatment for his ear infection were going to cost Mom $500! Mom refused their treatment and took him to Dr. Malo instead. The first visit was free of charge, and the total cost was not much over $100. There are several Dogsters (Oliver and Milo) that are going there too, coz of Mom's recommendations. In fact, someone (not Mom) just fed me in a plastic bowl, so naturally I ate the bowl! They x-rayed me twice to ensure that there is no obstruction, and so far it looks good. As Dr. Mark said, "We're trying to keep Nikki off the surgery table." With us mischievous pups, Mom is sure there quite a lot! posted: August 9th, 2007 |
Great Vets!I've been taking my cats here since 1970. I came back to them after trying different vets that were closer to my new home, but after my beloved cat, Mignon, was misdiagnosed by a quack, I came back to Dr. Malo. Dr. Malo figured out that his kidneys were the issue, so we managed his health issues with diet, for the most part. And dentals. His teeth were really giving him problems, and were affecting his health. Four years later, when he was 14, his kidneys were back to normal and his blood work was great. Unfortunately, at the same time, Mignon developed lymphoma. He referred us to an ocologist, and Mignon had chemo, which extended his life for a year. They were also able to diagnose that Callie had melanoma in her nose, so they referred me to an oncologist. This was very tricky as normally they do surgery. But they couldn't because of the location, so Callie had radiation. Several years later, she's still here. And both Max and Callie have IBD, which we manage with diet. The good thing is that you do not need an appointment, you just walk in. posted: August 7th, 2007 |
