 | | | | I love how if we just say Belle's name, she automatically starts to wag her tail.
I love how Cortez never wags his tail, never shows emotion, but yet, is always guarding me, every minute, every second, never really sleeping but making sure that all is right with the world. He always follows me, making sure that the area is clear, but never begs or wants to snuggle- he sits at a distance and watches me, making sure that my universe is secure.
If I leave without him, he howls. If I leave with him, Belle howls. If I leave with both of them, my husband says he is lonely.
For some reason, Cortez has decided to be my guardian, and this is not a role he takes lightly. He is not an affectionate shiba (he does like a morning belly rub) but otherwise, he focuses on hunting or making sure I am protected.
And yet, he is gentle and kind and tolerant, and loves to play, and for a few moments that he lets his stoic nature down and behaves like a dog, I can't help but to hug and hold him.
And in the meantime, Belle smiles, wags her tail, and prances among us all reminding us that beauty exists everywhere and she is just that. | | | | |
