Training update!

Ok so sense my last entry I have been so busy! I started and finished a basic manners class, and I am half way threw my CGC prep class. I am learning a lot and making great progress, mom and I have been working really hard during the week cause she really wants me to pass this test! Mom is even starting to think about Rally - O might be a possibility for us : )

Herding on the other hand isn't going so well, while I am getting some concepts others are still very hard.... hopefully I will be able to trial soon.

Life Goals : )

So I have been thinking lately of things I want to accomplish.

My first goal is I want at least two herding titles because the first herding title is just a instinct test and the second actually take some skill ; ) I have been doing so well in my herding class and if I stay consistent I will go for my first title in January! Im super excited about that Ive been working on this herding thing for over 6 months now and just now Im really starting to get that we arnt there to just chase sheep rather we are there to work !

I would also like a Canine Good Citizenship. Mom says we are starting work on that next week with our First Obedience class : )

And in January Hopefully we will be starting agility Ive already got a jump start on that over the weekend dad built me some weave poles so mom and I are working on them till we get to class : ) Hopefully I will be able to compete in agility as well.

My New Big Sister!

So the day after dad came home we spent a wonderful morning together herding sheep ( I did quite well I might add) then when we where all done with class we didnt drive home.... we went to another ranch but this one didnt have sheep it had BULLDOGS like my favorite buddy Porkchop! Mom said we would get to bring one home : ) She said that this bulldog we where bring home is very special to her and dad, you see before mom and dad adopted me they got a puppy's, my baby sister Penelope but sadly little sis is over the rainbow bridge, and this bulldog we where bringing home is Penelope's mom.

Well its been a week since we brought Tigger home. She's ok. She doesnt do much except sleep but thats ok we are learning to get along. I think she is still getting use to living with us, I totally understand cause it took me a few weeks to get used to this new home, but boy do I love it now!!!!!

We have gotten to do a few fun things together in last week with our new family member Tigger, like TWO costume contest! Nether of which we won, the first one was at a petsmart and I got to introduce my good buddy Porkchop to Tigger and they got along get! Tigger thought it was nice to see another short face dog! lol Well for this contest we both got dressed up me in my banana costume and Tigger in her cammis and cover dad said she looked so motto! And Porkchop was a rockstar, I totally thing we were the best dressed pups there, but I guess the people at petsmart didnt think so : ( The second contest was at the corgi meetup, mom said that when she was looking for my costume she wasnt going to dress me up as a hotdog because she thought EVERYONE else was going to dress there short - long dog up as a hot dog so instead she dressed me up as a banana! Well at the corgi meet up costume contest there wasnt a single hotdog.... and there where 8 bananas! can you believe it! 8!!!!! so needless to say we didnt win that one ether. Oh well there is always next year.....

Daddy's HOME!

Finally my daddy came home! It was so wonderful to see his face (and lick it) after a long time!

On the down side.... I have to go back to sleeping in my crate ( mom was letting me sleep on the big bed) but its well worth it to have my Daddy home again!

Off Leash!!!!!

Well this is a pretty BIG deal to mom and I : D After a few incidences of running, mom thought I would never be able to be off leash, but we still thought we would try and work on a recall (for safety reasons I guess) well after many many months of practice and working really super hard mom finally thought I might be ready to cut the 25ft light line down to just 3ft. She also brought some yummy yummys which made us VERY popluar that the local leash free beach where we had been practicing.

It was nice to be FREE well almost free, I did what every good dog would do when my mom called I came running!

We have been back to the beach several times since the first time and I just love love love it! Now we dont even take yummy yummies!

We also have taken a few trips to see my Grandmas house and mom let me walk from the truck to the house off leash : )

I cant wait to show daddy! Mom says he will be home soon : )

Weekend at the farm, and Daddy leaving.

So I have two subjects to write about this time, I'm going to start off with the happy one : )

Last weekend Me and the whole family went to the place that has the sheep and we got to stay there for THREE WHOLE DAYS! It was so very neat! Not only did I get work and practice with the sheep as much as I wanted but we had a MASSIVE yard to play in! And there was 7 other dogs there including a good friend of mine (tipper) I completely enjoyed every minute of it : ) I spent my mornings herding sheep my afternoons lounging on the deck and herding sheep again in the evening and when I wasn't lounging or herding I was playing with all my new friends! hehe I had so much fun ! On the down side though I did get knocked around by some sheep and got some scratches and I got stepped on by one sheep and had to limp out of the ring : ( but after a little rest I was ready to get back in there! I came home so very sore, and I also brought home a lot of FLEAS!!!! ugh I've been so very itchy! Luckily mom has been working very hard to get rid of them, and her efforts have been paying off : )


Now for the sad news, mom and dad explained this to me earlier in the week, and I hope I can explain it so that it makes sense to everyone.

Because my daddy is a Marine means that sometimes he is going to have to go away. But mom says he will always come home. This will be the first time dad has left me but luckily mom has been threw this a few times. Dad said he wont be gone long and that in several weeks he will be home. But I'm still going to miss him.

Surfing!

So as a Southern California girl I just had to try surfing just once! So me mom, dad and my best bud Porkchop (and his family) all went to ocean beach on saturday. Mom bought me a super cool green life vest because she said even though I know how to swim she doesn't think Im the strongest swimmer : ) Well when we finally got to the water there where several other doggie friends already there and trying out the board! When it was finally my turn, I hoped on the board like I have been doing this my whole life! Daddy took me out to the waves because he has way more surfing experience then mom he choose the perfect wave and pushed my board into the wave...... and I had officially caught my very first wave! It was very exciting and scary at the same time! But I stayed on that board and road it all the way in! We did it a few more time and I only fell off once! Although surfing was so much fun I dont think its something Im going to stick with, Im more of a ranch girl anyway! BOL!

Oh! and a little update on my herding lessons! My instructor said I will be ready to go to a trial in september! im already excited!

4 months in my new home !

Well its been a little over a month sense my last entry and boy has my life been amazing! First of most sundays mom and I herd sheep! I've made some really great friends at herding class, and I'm making some real progress in my training! And not just in herding class I've learned to walk on a loose leash (its so much better then pulling and hurting my neck) my sit and stay are almost perfect! Right now mom and I are working on shake and the most important thing my recall thats been the hardest thing for me I just want to meet everyone! For the past couple of weeks mom has been home ALL DAY its been truly amazing we have been going ever where together! At least once a week we go to the beach (although I have to stay on my leash) and a new dog park I've been having so much fun! Then there was the 4th of july we went to Huntington Beach (ca) for this huge parade I was a really long walk and there was a ton of people! After the parade we went over to a house with a pool and I found a great spot under the food table and slept off that really long walk but the coolest part of the weekend was getting to see all three of my fav cousins Rufus Lucy and Jack! Rufus and I always have so much fun together!

Officialy a sheep herder!

Ok so today HAD to be the BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!!!!!!

mom and dad took me to meet SHEEP ! OMD ! it was so much fun, I couldn't sit still. Mom said that today was just a test ( that I past with flying colors) but the real training starts next week. The trainer was pretty impressed with my skills : ) she said that I am already the best corgi out of all her corgi students. There were two other dogs at the class both where Aussie mixes and they had such long legs, everyone wanted to see how a dog with such short legs could take control of 5 very large (well large compared to me) sheep, needless to say by the end of my test I had everyone laughing and completely surprised.

I already can not wait till my next class when mom will get in the ring with me!

Mothers Day!

So on sunday I finally got to meet the rest of the family! We had to travel very far I was in the back of Dads car for over an hour! far to long if you ask me ! But it was all so worth it when I was able to run in a crowd of people that where all family! They all where so nice to me I got so many tummy rubs! Then we when to Grandmas house and I met my doggie family Rufus, Jack and Lucy. Jack and Lucy didnt really light me : ( but thankfully Rufus and I got along mom said he was the one to worry about. It was a big day for me and I was so so so tired and slept the whole ride home... and all night!

Also and update on how awesome my life has become : ) Every morning after dad gets up I get to sleep in bed with mom and after mom gets up and has her coffee we go for a walk! then mom leaves for work but is back in an hour or so and we go to the park with all the little kids including MINE! YES thats right I have my very own little kid his name is luke and I just love the little guy : ) well we spend a few hours at the park then we walk home and mom leaves me there for my 3 hour nap then she comes home and we hang out till dad comes home ! when dad gets home I help mom with dinner after dinner dad and I wrestle till we're both so tired!

And on fridays we all go to dog park and saturdays too ! Dog park is my favorite place EVER!

I love my life : ) its never ever been this perfect!
