Stay Safe

I just wanted to pop in quick and say I hope all my pals on the West Coast and everybody over in Japan are staying safe! You're all in mine and my families thoughts and prayers!

I wish I had time to say more but I'm on Doctor Puck duty today, mommy has a nasty cold and no voice and is trying to be stubborn so it's up to me to keep her relaxing!

Such a Good Boy

Usually when I go to the vet I am quite the monster! I bark at everything, chase everything, growl, get mean, make all kinds of noises. Usually I'm so "bad" they can tell when I enter the building before they even see me because of all the commotion I am causing.Well, not this time. This time I was 100% a good boy! I didn't bark when we walked in, I didn't bark inside my room every time I heard another animal walk past my door, there was no GRRR snappy-ness, and Dr. Clauss even got to trim my nails in the regular exam room with just his tech holding me instead of having to take me in the back where they could hook me up to this leash thing that makes me stand still. Yup I was 100% a well-behaved pug. I did bark at a couple of cats on my way out but that was about it so mommy promised me a trip to the pet store which I was very excited for! Turns out she was thinking the regular pet store either. She took me to a doggy bakery in Cheektowaga where I got a new bandana, chicken finger flavored cookies, and a cookie that's bigger than I am, plus she bought me a new green collar to wear for St. Patrick's day! While there I met a little puppy named Miles, he's a 7 month old daushaund and boy was he adorable! We ran around the little bakery together for probably 40 minutes, he even liked to chase the bone that holds my "accident" bags that's on my leash, I was dragging my leash which of course meant dragging this bone and he would chase after it and swat it, then when he finally caught it he actually ran away with it (and me cuz I was still attached!), I could have just stood there and out muscled the little guy but I decided to play nice and pretend like he was dragging me away! I had so much fun! I want to go back very soon!!

Today is a gloomy rainy day which means some indoor cleaning and stuff, some playtime, and a lot of naps. Usually I'm grumpy on days like this but I'm hopeful that this is just one step closer to the spring and summer weather and temperatures that I love so much!

Alright well, I'm off to nap in mommy's bed and help mamie clean the kitchen!

Pup-date

In one of my recent entries I mentioned that mommy and mamie were worrying about some black spots on my tummy that I assumed were nothing. Well, today they took me to the vet and guess what! It turns out that the spots on my tummy are actually a bacterial infection so now I'm on antibiotics. Guess they do know when to worry!

I also found out that my hair is falling out from being on prednisolone for so long for my allergies! So now, I'm being weened off of that and put onto a new allergy med! Hopefully all my fur comes back! I go back to the vet next week and I'll have more to say then!

I guess I need some advice

Okay people, mommy and mamie are freaking out again so here's the deal and you give me your insight. On my tummy I have these little red bumps that look like bites (almost like extra nipples)...I say DUH mom something either bit me or it's from the snow/salt rubbing my tummy when I do my business. Also, my mommy has noticed little black spots on my tummy and inner leg (ya know where my hair is softer and thinner) that look like "age spots" or bruises. I say DUH mom they're probably normal cuz they don't bother me, but ya know mom worries. She's having mamie call the vet on Monday because I need my nails trimmed and obviously they'll have the spots checked over as well, but I wanted to get an opinion. Have any of my other puggy (or even non-puggy friends) experienced this? What do you guys think the red and black spots are? I still say the red ones are bites or irritation, and the black ones are something normal, but you know mom's, they aren't happy unless all is perfect!

Onto other news, I am one angry little man! Last week it was 60 degrees outside and I was able to go potty in my hoodie without feeling chilly or having my paws hurt, this week mother nature dealt a blow, we got another 8 inches of snow! Can you believe that?! And now Monday we're going back into the 50's again! Make up your mind woman, do I need to break out my booties again or do I get to roam around mostly naked?!

Alright well, mommy just got home from clinical and now it's dinner time so I'm gonna go help cook!

~Puck

PS. Mommy spoke to the vet once before about my black spots and was told "As long as Puck is still being Puck (aka. a little monster) it's no need for concern"...obviously she just doesn't listen!

Oh Buffalo

Oh Buffalo we have a love hate relationship! I love you in the summer and I hate you in the winter. But right now, I really despise you! For the past two days we've had fifty degree weather, all the snow was melted, and I could go outside in just my hoodie and not stand there shivering running right back in the house right after doing my business. Today I wake up and it's twenty degrees outside and there's more snow back on the ground. Could you please make up your mind? I don't appreciate being teased.

We just re-did my mamie's bedroom a few days ago. Things were all out of sorts and I didn't like it at all but now that everything is back in order and clean again I'm a happy pug. Now though we find out that my Unkie Jay is moving out next month! Mommy's excited because that means she gets HER big room back (he stole it while she was away at college and didn't give it back. She's got all kinds of plans, she already knows what colors she's painting it, what kind of floor she's putting in, the colors for the curtains, everything. She intends to mount her tv to the wall, leaving plenty of space for my dishes and a new bed for me (not that I ever sleep in there anyway, I like sleeping by Ozzy). This also means that finally her bedroom will have air conditioning because for whatever reason the Central Air doesn't work in her current room, and she can use her current room to store her school books and stuff! As excited as she is I'm not really excited. Sure I'm excited to have more space but I'm not excited about things being all out of sorts and dirty or about my Unkie leaving...who's gonna torment me and call me a little rat because he's trying to remain masculine and "hate" the little dog? Who's gonna cook all the yummy dinners that I try extra hard to get a taste of? All I have to say is, I better get to go visit his new home often, or he better be coming to visit this home often.

Alright well mamie just came home from shopping with all kinds of fruit and things. It's time for me to go help her wash and slice it...this way I can put my cute bulging eyes, little bit of tongue hanging out, head tilting face on and sucker her into feeding me slices. :-P

I'm a Bit Angry

Well as you all know the Superbowl was Sunday evening and so was my Uncle Mac's Superbowl party. I was all excited and ready to put on my "Wide Retriever" football jersey and strut my stuff into the party house and then bam, I got the bad news...mommy wasn't taking me! It wasn't for lack of the cute head tilt, puppy dog eyes, or her desire to take me, she really wanted me to go, as did my mamie but my Uncle was afraid that with all of the people crammed into the house it wouldn't be a good place for me to be because there were going to be children there and children scare me because they screech in my ears, chase me, and pull my tail, as well as a ton of people there to step on me. So, despite my best efforts I was left behind with my grandparents. So there I am, sitting on the ottoman with grandpa watching the Christina Aguilera botch the national anthem...it's a shame too because she has some serious pipes on her, and then wouldn't ya know it...a PUG commercial...in the commercial the pug ran down a door to get to a dorito and let me tell you that's totally something I would do, it's doritos that mommy bribed me out from under grandma's bed with on the day I got my burn owie! At least even though I was left behind, the anthem was botched, and I didn't get any good people food the game ended in good fashion with a Packers win...a local boy played for the Packers in this game so we were rooting hard for them to win!!! CONGRATS PACKERS!!!

Alright well, I'm gonna go take a shower with the mamie and get ready to watch the hockey game. My Sabres are attempting to make a push at the playoffs and every game counts!

Inquisi-What?

February 4th 2011 6:39 pm

My mommy keeps telling me I'm a very inquisitive little man. What does inquisitive mean? Should I be offended? Are all little pugs like me inquisitive? I ask her all these questions and she says it means I'm interested in everything and that it's not completely bad but it's not always a good thing either. I can't help that I find every noise and every thing that's happening in this house to be interesting and feel the need to go investigate all of the time. How many other pups out there are the same way? Humans lead such interesting lives!

Yesterday was my mommy's best friend's 23rd birthday. Her parents are on vacation in Florida so we had her over here and welcomed her as part of our family for a birthday celebration. Mommy got out of class, picked her up, went to lunch, came back here, tye-dyed a whole bunch of shirts (because they both had a ton of white shirts that needed color), had some dinner cooked by Unkie Jay - his chicken parm is the only one mommy or her friend will eat so it was a good present to her, did presents (I helped open them), and then had cookie cake (I helped blow the candles out and then taste-tested the frosting). It was all-in-all a long but very fun day! I love when we have company over, but love even more when there's presents and goodies involved!

In more good news! The groundhog DIDN'T see his shadow which means a shorter winter! WOOHOOOOOOO this made me one extremely happy dude. I'm so over the frigid cold temperatures and the snow, I'm tired of shivering, and I'm tired of having to get dressed to go outside! I want to run around naked and play outside for long periods of time and be able to go on long walks around the block with my mommy at night and most of all have my beloved BONFIRES! Plus, with spring and summer comes baseball season and that means me sportin' my New York Yankees tag and collar and cheering on Derek Jeter and the boys all summer long. HURRY UP MOTHER NATURE I'm tired of waiting!!

This weekend is the Superbowl which means more parties! I'm kind of impartial to who wins, I don't really think it matters to me, although, a local kid is on the Green Bay Packers so at least if they win a local youngster will have the Superbowl Ring and over course bragging rights over all his high school friends! I'm more or less in it for the commercials though, oh and the food. I've been told that the Super Bowl party is at my Uncle Mac's house this year instead of here, but I'm hoping if I play my cards right and give the right amount of cuteness/sadness I can sucker them into taking me along!

Alright well, I'm a pretty sleepy little guy so I'm off for a final round of play with Ozzy and then bed! Hope all my pals have a great weekend!

I Want Their Job

February 2nd 2011 6:24 am

I want the job of a weatherman. Why? Because they can be wrong every single day and still have a job. Seriously people, I think you need to head back to school. For day's now you have been warning us about this "monster storm" that was going to hit us Tuesday night-Wednesday night and leave over a foot of snow, sleet, and ice across the area, rivaling the Blizzard of 77...REALLY?! School's around us started closing at 2pm YESTERDAY to be ahead of the storm system, gas stations are out of gas, and grocery stores are out of bread and what did I wake up to this morning?! TWO INCHES of snow, and a little bit of ice. Sure the snow is supposed to come back a little later and it's windy but we're only supposed to get around FOUR more INCHES throughout the entire day, that's just another day in the life of a Buffalonian. I for one am a very happy pug because I hate the snow, but I still say shame on you for creating all this panic and hysteria over nothing, I'm sure the parents who have to pay for extra child care, the superintendents of school's who cancelled school and lost state aid, and all the businesses and their employees who lost sales and money are just completely "thrilled" to wake up and see how the "storm of the century" was blown way out of proportion and they're losing money for nothing!

Now to all my friends in Chicago, St. Louis, and all the other states who's weathermen were actually right: Stay Safe and Warm as you dig yourselves out and take things slow...Just remember spring/summer are right around the corner! :-D

Alright well I'm going to curl up in my little blanket and take a nap, there's really not much else to do considering the entire city shut down for this!

Happy and Sad at the Same Time

January 30th 2011 8:07 pm

I guess I should start with the sad, that way I finish with something that will put a smile on everywoof's (well maybe not, but it will on me) face.

One of our neighbors has a boxer boy named Tyson, and he reminds me LOTS of Meatball. Well, shortly after Meatball crossed the bridge Tyson got loose and whenever Tyson gets loose he comes right here to play. My mommy seen him out her window and jumped up thinking we left Meatball outside, then she realized Meatball was no longer here so it had to be Tyson. That day made me sad because just as it made her think of Meatball it made me as well, but I thought with time it would get easier, but I've learned today it really doesn't. Tyson got loose again and of course he trucked himself right over here, this time it was Big Guy who saw him coming and this time it was Big Guy who jumped up thinking we forgot Meatball again. I guess I just wish one of these days it really would be Meatball. Guess this just proves Meatball is never going to be forgotten :'-(

Onto different gross news. This Wednesday we're supposed to get some pretty "serious" snow accumulation. The weather people are having a hard time pin-pointing who's going to get how much because they said one shift in the system and all of a sudden the heaviest snow could hit 5 miles away from where they predict so they're waiting for it to get closer before saying how much accumulation each area is going to get...however they keep saying it's going to be "quite measurable"...last time they said that and said that one shift in the system could change who gets the most my house ended up with over 3 feet in 2 days. PSSTTT mother nature, I don't know if you've noticed but we're approaching February and I'm really tired of having to bundle up to go potty and fighting the snow. Do you think maybe you could cancel this snow storm for me and bring on some nicer temperatures?

Now the good news...PAAARRRRRRRRTTTTTTTYYYYYY!!!!! This Thursday is my mommy's best friend's 23rd birthday and her family is out of town on a vacation, so my mommy is bringing her here on Thursday for Tye-Dying, her favorite meal cooked by Unkie Jay (his is the ONLY chicken parm she'll eat), cake, ice cream, and presents!!! Do you know what this means?! This means I get to decorate, cook, help open presents, and maybe even get some cookie cake or ice cream out of the humans!!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!! On top of that mommy bought her tickets to a Buffalo Sabres game on the 23rd of this month...the girl has NO idea and won't actually find out until the day of the game when mommy gets her to the arena...that mommy of mine is a sneaky little bugger!

Alright well, mommy has only slept about 12 hours in the past 3 days because of school, then her last day at Children's Hospital, Disney on Ice, and work today, so I think it's time I send her off to bed, besides, I'm tired too! Good Night all my pals!!

Mommy Survived!

January 23rd 2011 8:12 pm

Last time I woofed anything I was getting ready to see mommy off to her first ever pediatrics clinical experience at the local Children's Hospital...without me! Good news...she survived and she really liked the experience and actually can't wait to go back for her second and last 9 hour day next week Saturday! Her patient was an adorable 3 week old baby which of course made her melt, but his parents spoke ZERO English so that added to the experience because she got to deal with interpreters and everything! I'm still super bummed about the fact that I can't go, especially since she came home and said a giant Bull-Mastiff was on the floor with them...um say what?! That ginormous dog can be up there but lil ole' me cannot? HMMPPPPHHH!! Anyways, I hope next week goes as well for her!

In other news...it's FREEZING here today! Our "weather bug" on the computer is currently reading -6 degrees BEFORE the wind-chill. That is absolutely, positively, 100% TOO COLD for me to go outside. I try, and try but the instant I get out there my little paws are frozen and hurting so bad! Mommy had boots for me but I HATE wearing them and once they're on I refuse to walk. Mamie was hoping I'd be a pee pad puppy tonight but stubborn me doesn't like to use those anymore because I'm a "big boy" now and like going outside...I'll pretty much be holding it until it's warmer, or until I explode, whichever comes first.

Playoff football took place today and that meant...couch time, and begging for human food, belly rubs and play-time with my Uncle Mac and my big guy! Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers for making it to the Super Bowl!

Alright well I'm a very sleepy little man right now so I gotta get to bed!
