Wow! I can’t believe it has been a month since I was rescued! Go BRBR!! I am doing SOO much better! I have gained 10+ pounds since coming to my foster home! I am now well enough to get spayed and then start my heartworm treatment in preparation for you! You, my forever home, whom I know is out there waiting to find me! I’m thinking that fall must be my favorite time of the year, because I can’t wait to get outside every day! Just think, I can jump in piles of leaves with you and enjoy the crisp, cool weather!
It has been so awesome here in my foster home. I have a fur brother who is a boxer, too! He’s so playful! We’re about the same age, too. The vet guessed that I was about 2, maybe 2 ½. I have met lots of other dogs, too! I don’t seem to mind them; in fact, I always ask them to play with me. Mom has begun to keep me calmer so that everything will be fine and dandy for when I start my treatments. I am a very loving, sweet girl. I would be so content to crawl up into your lap and love on you! Mom and Dad are working on teaching me lots of new things! Things like “sit”, “down”, “easy”, and “crate”. So far I almost have “sit” mastered. I’m doing much better with ‘easy’ and ‘crate’ too! And I don’t jump up on people or furniture much anymore, unless I’m asked to do so. I love to crawl under my blankets and snuggle!! Tug-of-war and tennis balls are my favorites, but I’ll take a treat any day over those!!
Mom reminded me to tell you that now is the time to put your application in for me. She said that I am turning out to be a very beautiful girl and she just knows that when the time is right, I won’t be with BRBR very long! She knows that my forever home is waiting just around the corner! So on that note, please go to our website and put in your application. Make sure you let them know that you want me! The “dappled” white boxer on the block!! See you soon!

Paws,
~Josi~

The First Days of My New Life

A letter to my recent past and my near future…
Hello Everyone!! My name is Josi and I’m one of the newest members of BRBR. My history is unclear, even to me, but I was more than likely used as a puppy maker and was stuck in a shelter until the wonderful people at the rescue came to pull me out! I met my new family (foster family, of course) just a couple days later! It’s been almost a week and although I was extremely tired, weak, scared, and timid at first, I am slowly beginning to feel safe and loved again! My foster family is the best! I came home to a nice warm crate with lots of blankets, good food, and best of all, people who love me! Thank you so much to the ‘team’ at BRBR who worked hard to get me out of that awful shelter!
My foster mom was so excited to see my boxer wiggles within just a couple days of being here! She says that although I’m a pretty girl now, she can’t wait to see me all filled out again! I’m really skinny right now and I am heartworm positive, but my foster mom is feeding me good food to help me gain that weight. As soon as I do, I can get spayed and get treated for these awful heartworms. Then I will be ready to romp and play with you!
In the short time I have been here, I have met lots of people…men, women, and children. Once I’m sure that they aren’t going to hurt me, I nuzzle up to them so they know its okay to pet me! I’m so thankful to be loved again! I’ve also met a cat and I think I like him. He rubs up against me and sits with me while I eat my food, but I don’t mind. Tonight I got to smell, sniff, and lick a baby! She was so cute and I hope to love on more babies!
I don’t like those tall seats with wheels…mom called it a bike…they look scary. Loud trucks and such don’t seem to bother me, but I jumped at the thunder the other night. I thoroughly enjoy being outside in the sunshine, especially in this fall weather! It feels so good! Mom says I have shown every sign of being housebroken. If I have to go out after bedtime, I bark and whine until you get up to let me out! Mom is so thankful!
As you can see in my picture, I am a white boxer with an almost dappled coat. I have LOTS of freckles! Again, I’m still a bit shy, scared, and timid, but I know the more I’m loved here, the more my confidence will grow back. A friend of mom’s was over the other night and told me to hold my head up high! I’m doing my best! Take a moment and put your application in so you can be ready for a whole new me! I can’t wait to meet you!
Paws,
~Josi~
