Today's the big day! I found out what a birthday was on Tuesday, Mom and Dad gave me a card and envelope to tear up and a big bone treat with icing that said happy birthday! I'm still working on that =) Mom got a lot of video of it, which was kind of embarrasing but what are Moms for, right? *blush* But today is the BIG DAY! MY BIRTHDAY PARTY! Mom said I'm going to go to play time at Oscars and there's going to be balloons, and I get to play with the other dogs, and there's going to be pup cakes, and doggie bags with treats! I have to go to the groomers at noon *unhappy face* but then after that Mom's going to pick up my balloons and we're going to put together the doggie bags! I can't wait, this is going to be sooo cool! RUFF!

Tomorrow Mom and Dad said it's my birthday! I don't know what a birthday is but this is my first one and they're VERY excited. Today they took me to the pet shop and I got to pick out favors for my doggie bags, I picked bone shaped cookie treats dipped in pink, green, and some blue frosting and topped with sprinkles! Then Mom and Dad bought two pup cakes so there would be enough slices for everyone at puppy play date Thursday and they got me a big "Happy Birthday" bone! I sure can't wait to find out what a birthday is!!!

Stick with your story. See Mom and Dad don't let me on the couch unless they invite me. But we're all dogs here so I can tell you - when they go to take a nap, or go to work, or school - I'm sooooo on the couch. There are two tricks to pulling this off. 1 - when Mom and Dad come in jump off the couch quick as can be! If they see you just pretend to go into a deeeep stretch paws stretched out in front like no, I wasn't on the couch I was laying NEXT to the couch and was just stretching when you came in! Works like a charm. 2 - Pretend you can't get up on the couch by yourself, I'm a pro at this one. If I want to sit with Mommy and Daddy when they're watching tv I'll put my paws up on the couch cushion and I'll wait for them to invite me. When they invite me I sit down and wait for them to pick me up and put me on the couch. Now between us, as I said before I have NO PROBLEM getting on and off the couch by myself, buuuut you gotta stick to your story. If you don't want Mom to know you were where you know you're not supposed to be, you gotta make it look good! You gotta stick to your story!!!

Well on February 12th Dad took me to Dr. Pendleton and he spayed me, fixed my umbilical hernia, gave me the home again chip, and they even gave me a courtesy nail clip! Mom and Dad were both real nervous, Mom probably called Dad from work at least 20 times to check on me; but I've been to Dr. Pendleton before and I knew I was in good hands.

I was a little woozy when I woke up but Mom & Dad were right there waiting for me! They brought me home, and as a suprise they had gotten me a whole bunch of new stuff! They gave me a new, bigger, plushier bed, a new lovey with a duck on it that once I started feeling better I chewed the head open on, uhm..Oh, yeah and there was medicine (Yuck!) The pain medicine wasn't too bad. I wouldn't take it at first but then Mom got me pill pockets which are basically meaty treats with the inside hollowed out so she can put my medicine in there!

So she started using those and she'd top it off with nutracal (I didn't have much of an appetite for a day or two) or peanut butter kong stuffing and you know I can't resist that peanut butter kong stuffing!!! So that was ok. The antibiotics were a whole nother ball game. They taste like poo. And not the kind of poo I may occassionally want to nibble on but nasty bitter yuck poo. Dad tried mixing it with different stuff, sweet tea, melted vanilla shake, sugar water...nothing worked it was gross and I hated it and I made sure Mom & Dad knew! But then last night Dad mixed it with the vanilla syrup he usually puts in Mom's Green Tea Fraps - it was pretty good!! (Don't tell them I said that though).

Mom & Dad were able to remove my cone collar yesterday and they've been watchin me like hawks but I've not touched my stitches once so they've left the collar off for now. I'm pretty much back to normal except that I can't be groomed for another week so I'm getting kind of shaggy, Mom brushes me each night but I've got that baby fine hair that LOVES to get all knotted up.

OH YEAH! And I finally got a new rabies tag since Dad lost my other one (he dropped my leash and the hook broke that held it on). SO now I've got all sorts of bling on my collar! My heart shaped 'Princess' tag that tells everyone my name and number, my home again tag that tells everyone I'm microchipped so if I ever get lost they can get me back to Mom & Dad quick, AND my pretty red rabies tag that tells everyone that I'm vaccinated. Pretty sweet. Well I gotta go, Dad left his shoes out so I'm going to go see if he left any dirty socks in them. I LOVE dirty socks. See ya round!

Amaya's 1st Cut

Today we took Amaya to get groomed. Two things happened that were firsts. 1 - they advised us because she's six months old she no longer qualifies for the puppy package =( 2 - when we picked her up she had sustained a rather significant cut on her front, left paw. I was visibly shaken (as was Amaya!) by the sight of her poor little paw. I was so upset I couldn't even express my disdain. Then the groomer, Laura P., squeezes her paw and blood comes out. I quickly snatched Amaya away from her. They didn't give us any antibiotic ointment for it which further irritated me. Amaya has never had a cut before. Maybe I'm over reacting but for sixty dollars and three hours I think they should be a little more careful. We take extra steps to ensure Amaya's comfort and safety. We request the dremmel as opposed to the nail clippers to avoid them cutting too far on her nails and causing her pain - we pay extra for this but it's worth it to us to ensure Amaya has a positive experience. When I picked her up she was shaking all over. We got her home and then realized the groomer had not even returned Amaya's runner leash or collar to us. My husband had to drive all the way back to PetSmart. When he got there he asked to speak to a manager but apparently the grooming manager has off on weekends so we will have to wait until Monday to sort this out. The part that irritates me most is I had just argued with Mike that we should wait to get her groomed because our usual girl, Amanda, was not in this weeked but would be in next weeked. Next weekend he has drill and will be taking the car so he argued we should do it before then. So I suggested we take her to Oscar's Pet Resort, and use the 10% off coupon we got when she graduated puppy class. He didn't want to wait. So I went against my better judgement and this is what happened. I am not pleased today.
