New Trick!

Okay, so Mama has pink tennis balls fur me and fur herself, and she has 15 altogether. She keeps all fifteen in an old Nike shoe box and it opens with a flip open, not a lid. She taught me how to nudge the box open and grab a tennis ball, then bring it back to her in one command, "Go find ball!"

That was pretty hard to teach me, but we both got it. Now Mama's working on teaching me to, "Put ball away." It's a bit hard, but I'm getting it slowly. Mama works on it every few days with me so I don't get FAT from treats which is great. Hopefully I'll have it learned in a few days!

Okay, so one of my little white hooks to hold up the jump is MISSING! Mama thinks I could have burried it or someone has taken it, but who would want the hook? Anyway, Mama has me do the jump WITHOUT a jump! I just jump between the two bars and I can go as high or low as I want! I was doing grrreat with it and then we came to the tunnel... It was folded up almost completely and it was just like a chute tunnel; open on one side and closed on the other. I FLEW through it with no problem at all! I'm such a good girl!

Training Tip #3, November 9th, 2009: How to React

Did you know that dogs trace your feelings? They can sense it and it's often referred to they can smell it when you're angry or upset. How do you react when your dog goes crazy? It's natural to get nervous or scared if your dog is attacking another dog or being attacked by another dog, but you need to set that behind you. Act calmly, stay calm, be calm the entire time!

If your dog starts going crazy and you want them to settle down, what do you do? You be calm and firm. Say Annie is running around like a maniac, it's a firm, "Annie, come!" If she doesn't come I can't get angry at her. That traces to her and she'd never end up with me. I don't move my place. If I try to follow her or trap her she'll just keep running. (There is the occasional case where your dog will not come back no matter what. In those times, just follow when you need to. Your dog will tire and lay down or maybe even retreat to you if you're calm and patient. Don't risk this by a road, busy or not!)

Basically, doing anything except for praising your dog, always act calm and occasionally stern.

First three pups that rate and comment my video get a ROSETTE!

Only the first three, no exceptions... You'd better get over there fast! Just comment and tell me what you think and rate it from 1-5. I'd really like you to be extremely honest. If it's not five star it's not five star. Mama used a bad video camera, but I did perform the trick, so it's your decision. Only a 4 second video! Just waste two minutes of your time and win a rosette!

Also, p-mail me after you do. Let's go, pups!

Prayers Needed Fur Goldie...

Goldie is my neighbor's dog and I'll tell you the story from beginning to end...

They found her as a stray when she was a puppy and she is now 11 years old. She's getting very old and recently Mama was petting her and found a lump on her side. It was hardly noticeable, but Mama easily recognizes those kinds of things. Cancer... She brought it to the owners and their answer was, "We don't have enough money to do Kimo on a dog." Mama didn't like this answer, but she understands with the economy and where her neighbors are standing right now.

All we can do is pray fur Goldie. Mama's been thinking that Goldie's been seeing her last days, but now that we know of the cancer and the owners won't do the least as to even bring her to the vet, her days are surely numbered... She's been with this family 10+ years and their kids grew up with her. Any prayers will be appreciated now fur Goldie and her family.

Dog Training Tip #1 Monday November 2nd, 2009:

When training your dog, you must always be prepared. If you have a playful dog, play with them and then do recall in one smooth motion as in play chase or tug of war and then call them back to you. If you have a dog that comes back right away, then you have a good dog. This is also a great exercise fur outside just in case! ;)

The Boy and The Tree

A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy
loved to come and play around it everyday. He climbed to the
tree top, ate the apples, took a nap under the shadow...

He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him.

Time went by...
The little boy grew up, and he no longer played around the tree
everyday. One day, the boy came back to the tree with a sad
look on his face. "Come and play with me," the tree asked the
boy. "I am no longer a kid, I don't play around trees anymore."
The boy replied, "I want toys. I need money to buy them."
"Sorry, I don't have money...but you can pick all my apples and
sell them so you will have money."

The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree
and left happily. The boy didn't come back after he picked the
apples. The tree was sad.

One day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited.
"Come and play with me," the tree said.
"I don't have time to play. I have to work for my family.
We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?"
"Sorry, I don't have a house, but you can chop off my branches
to build your house."

So the boy cut all the branches off the tree and left happily.
The tree was glad to see him happy but the boy didn't come back
afterward. The tree was again lonely and sad.

One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted.
"Come and play with me!" the tree said.

"I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax
myself. Can you give me a boat?" "Use my trunk to build your
boat. You can sail far away and be happy." So the boy cut the
tree truck to make a boat. He went sailing and didn't come
back for a long time.

Finally, the boy returned after he had been gone for so many
years. "Sorry, my boy. But I don't have anything for you
anymore. No more apples for you..." the tree said.

"I don't have teeth to bite," the boy replied.

"No more trunk for you to climb on."

"I am too old for that now" the boy said. "I really can't give
you anything... the only thing left is my dying roots," the
tree said with sadness.

"I don't need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after
all these years," the boy replied.

"Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest.
Come sit down with me and rest." The boy sat down and the tree
was glad and smiled with tears.

This is the story of everyone.

The tree is our parent. When we were young, we loved to play
with Mom and Dad... When we grew up, we left them...
We only came to them when we needed something or when we were in

No matter what, parents will always be there and give you
everything they can to make you happy.

It may seem as if the way the boy treats the "tree" in the story
is cruel, but many of us take our parents for granted in the
same way.

Never forget how important your parents are and try not to take
them for granted... they may not be around forever.

From here on out on Fridays and Monday's Mama and I will post a doggy-training tip in my diary. Here's the Tip:

When training your dog, if you have a dog that loves to play or loves a certain toy it's ALWAYS better to train them with that toy other then treats. It's healthier and increases the bond.

Be waiting fur Monday fur the next training tip!

Okay, now my neighborhood kids were playing with me yesterday. I'll include a pic on my page of what they were doing. They were burrying me in the leaves (under Mama's supervision {with my head out}) and I was a very good girl. We also did search and rescue games such as my kids being burried in the leaves and I'd have to go find them. This was SOOO fun!

Furst of all, Jet, my best Dogster furrend, is Diary of the Day! Not Pick of the day, DIARY OF THE DAY! His pic is up on my main page and you should really check out his grreat articles.

Now, Mama has me on a diet. No cheese or tricks till just before Christmas! (She'd go after Christmas, but that would be a crime because so many family members want to see my tricks! BOL!)

Anyway, I'm also on a strict walking schedule and only a little less then one cup of food everyday. At least I'm not being starved! BOL!

Wish my luck!

Me and Mama's New Favorite Game!

October 26th 2009 12:50 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ]

So Mama has this purple squishy ball and if you squeeze it little air blows out of the little hole. At first she just had me retrieving it for her, but then she started blowing the air on me to get me interested. I didn't like the air at all and she kept doing it and it became like a game. I had to get my mouth NOT on the hole and squeeze it really hard till Mama said, "Drop it," or, "Leave it!" or, "Drop it, leave it!"

I had soo much fun and so did Mama! I really loved playing this game and treating the ball like a little birdy or squirrel. It was soo fun! There were just a few times when Mama had to go get the ball from me, but I was very good about bringing it back today.

Mama did other things like leaving the room and telling me to, "Leave it, Ball!" and even doing some of my tricks to be rewarded with the ball.

Later she brought out a tennisball and I didn't want any of it! Bring me that purple ball, silly Mama!
